A binocular with a wide field of view, allows you to SEE MORE of the image which makes finding moving subjects such birds and butterflies that much easier. This is why some of the best bird watching binoculars have a lower magnifications with higher field of views. The down side is that binoculars with a wider field of view have less magnification. The higher the magnification the larger the subject appears resulting in a closer view experience with more detail because of the added magnification.
