User questions & answers

Question: How high is the tripod and is the focuser on the 80 and 90mm metal

Question: What is the difference between the 50 & the
Answer: 8 x 22’s are considered good for concerts, weight is a consideration though.
Question: Does the Meade 102mm AZ have a standard 1/4" by 20 threaded hole at the bottom to attach it to a different tripod
Answer: I bought four pairs of these binoculars for my kindergarten class. My students didn't wear them for an extended period of time, so I'm not sure for long term. They all had no problem with them, and I never heard a complaint about discomfort.
Question: Can you see beyond the solar system, to say, the crab nebula
Answer: Great binoculars for kids, but definitely NOT waterproof, unfortunately.

User questions & answers

Question: Is there a similar product that will work with a mac air
Answer: There is a focuser on all of them. I have the 102 which has a 2" with an adapter for 1 1/4. Meade assures me that this scope will take 2" eyepieces and a 2" diagonal. Be aware though that This scope only has a 4" Vixen dovetail and is hard to balance if you use an EQ mount.
Question: Does this adaptor, and cable work with windows
Answer: Between the two the 60 is much better, especially for the minimal price difference. The bigger objective means you see dimmer objects and the image will be sharper so you can use a slightly higher max power. More importantly, the 60 comes with a sturdier tripod (less vibration), better mount (easier to get the scope pointed where you want it and to follow objects as they move across the sky), better eyepieces (wider field of view the "circle" you see when you look through looks bigger, like looking through a bigger window and sharper focus), better diagonal (correct images instead of mirror images), and a red dot finder. The 50 isn't a terrible scope (I have a similar Coleman 50 I received as a gift that I put on a better mount to make it more usable), but you physically won't be able to see as many things with it since fainter objects are outside the reach of the scope.
Question: Does this work with the DSX model autostars
Answer: Hello John, the hole placed at the center of the dovetail plate is 1/4" x 20 threaded hole. And yes you can remove the dovetail plate as I did with my own and place another dovetail plate of your choice, but remember the other dovetail plate if longer may not align with the two holes drilled into the telescope. The two holes in the telescope are 3 - 5/16" O.C. so you may have to drill another hole and tap it for threads depending on the other dovetail plate you intend to use. What I did was purchased the https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000XMVKO and the https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0069WCOA2 and was able to attach them to each other and couple the rings onto the scope right where I needed it to be so I could have a properly balanced telescope.
Question: Does this work with the ETX 90 models
Answer: Please ignore Ronald Burchett's answer. He is incorrect. As Sjpp71 says, yes, of course you can see deep sky objects (DSOs), including most of the Messier objects, which Messier himself also observed with a 4-inch achromat. However, Messier was observing in the 18th century, and there was absolutely ZERO light pollution then. You would have to travel far away from civilization to see skies as dark as he experienced. The Crab Nebula (M1) is a difficult object under light-polluted skies. That's because the magnitude that is listed for it, 8.4, is what's called an "integrated" magnitude - as if all the light from the nebula were coming from one star-sized point. Because the nebula is spread out and far larger than a star, that means that its surface brightness is much, much lower. I've tried viewing it from Manhattan with a 5-inch scope and have been completely unsuccessful, as my awful light pollution brightens the sky and washes it out. However, I'd love to travel out into the wilderness and try again!

User questions & answers

Question: Is this an erect image diagonal
Answer: No. I have never seen Meade product to work with any Apple product.
Question: Is the diagonal all one peice or are the tubes screwed/soldered into the diagonal? A molded one peice like the TeleVue or Celstron is what Im looking
Answer: This is hardware and therefore must work with an appropriate software. If your software, whatever it may be works in Windows 10 then this cable will also work. The primary software this cable set designed for was the Meade Autostar Updater which will work with Windows 10. Therefore this adapter and cable will work with Windows 10. However most new Windows 10 computers does not have a serial port and this cable set requires a serial port. You will need a USB to serial adapter to get a serial port. Most astro software will only work with com1 or com2 serial port. You must set make sure your serial port, real or from USB adapter, to either com1 or com2
Question: can you screw on an orion 2in filter on this piece
Answer: The Meade 505 cable will work with any telescopes that have a Meade 497 Autostar. Therefore if your telescope has a Meade 497 Autostar this cable will work. This cable will not work with any other Autostar such as Meade Autostar or Autostar II. The cable is connected between the Meade 497 Autostar and the computer, and not anywhere on the telescope.
Question: Does this have a threaded back? So I can use it on a Celestron C9.25 SGT: http://amzn.com/B0002CIAE
Answer: The Meade 505 cable is connect to the Meade 497 Autostar which controls the telescope. Therefore you must have a Meade 497 Autostar in order to use the Meade 505 cable. Therefore if you don't have a Meade 497 Autostar than this cable is not for you. If you have a Meade 497 Autostar with your Meade telescope (regardless of model) you can use the Meade 505 cable because you have to enter your telescope model into the Meade 497 Autostar! This cable will not work with Meade 494 Autostar.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this perform as well as a qhy163m or zwo 1600mm regarding dark frames and working with 3rd party programs
Answer: It is not an erect image diagonal!
Question: How much back focus does this camera consume
Answer: There is a separate tube that screws onto the scope. The diagonal then slides into this tube and is secured by 2 thumb screws. On the eyepiece side there is an insert for 1.25" eyepieces. I hope this is h helpful to you.
Question: Will this work with a celestron 8se
Answer: There threads on the front opening that connects to the scope that you can screw in a 2-inch filter. As for where the eye piece goes in, there are no threads. One thing I really like about this diagonal is the band inside that tightens around the eye piece. It does to leave screw marks on the eye piece. Quality of the views is outstanding. I highly recommend this diagonal.
Question: How much does the DSI4 weigh
Answer: I have a Celestron C11 ... The Meade Diagonal comes with an extension thread on adapter... The adapter is threaded and it works with my C11... I hope this is helpful

User questions & answers

Question: Would this work cor my meade i finity
Answer: Yes as long as your telescope uses 1.25" diagonals and eyepieces. Some versions going back many years used smaller .965" diagonals and eyepieces but they were typically not called Infinity.
Question: Will this fit a Meade
Answer: It will work with any telescope that uses 1.25" eyepeices and eyepiece holder. I believe the model 291 used 0.965", so it would not work. You can make sure by measuring the diameter of the eyepiece holder.
Question: Will this fit a Celetron 127eq reflector, and does it turn the image upright
Answer: It should and it does turn the image right side up
Question: Will this fit a meade astro finder model 60 telescope?? if not, any idea how to find what will?? thanks
Answer: This prism fits 1.25” lens openings, so it should fit most 60mm refractor telescopes like the Meade you mentioned. Measure the diameter of the barrel that you insert into the scope of one of your lenses to be sure before ordering. Happy stargazing!

User questions & answers

Question: Will this unit work on a etx 90 ec
Answer: On the web it says this "universal adaptor" is compatible with the LX series mounts and almost every thing else Meade. I know the ampere output would suffice. It worked great on my LX90 with 12 inch SCT.
Question: Will this work for Starnavigator NG
Answer: The cord from the power supply to the scope is approximately 1.5 meter.
Question: Will this work with an ext
Answer: I found this explanation below in quotes on the Meade website for what I believe is the same adapter you are looking at here. Keep in mind it uses the word universal in the description here and it is the same SKU number as the one from the Meade website. Here is what Meade said in regards to the one I found on their website, "The Meade Universal AC Adapter plugs into any standard household electrical outlet and connects to the 12V input jack on the telescope's control panel. Compatible with most Meade models including LS-6 and LS-8, LT models, ETX-125, all LXD-75 models, all LX90 models, all LX200GPS and ACF models, all RCX400/LX400 models, and additional models which have a 12V "phono" type power input jack. Please consult owners manual for compatibility. Carries full one year Meade factory limited warranty." Also, keep in mind- Meade charges $59.99 currently for the same thing. I'd buy this one and skip the shipping cost. It's the same thing. It is a little frustrating to spend $800 on the ETX 125mm telescope and Meade wouldn't at least provide this adapter. Oh well... I hope this helps someone out.
Question: Does this work for a replacement of a meade ds-114 battery pack
Answer: No, the LX200 Classic was an 18V system. We no longer make an AC adapter for that model discontinued in 2002.

Answer: Yes, this cable is compatible with Meade ETX 90 and 125 series of Telescopes
Question: Will this work with a Fujifilm x100t? Do I need any other adapters
Answer: I use mine on my ETX 90. I like it , but since I drive a hybrid it sometimes drains the tiny car battery so it needs a jump. :-/ If the Starnavigator has similar power requirements it should work. But I recommend having a full-size car battery and AC charger you can use at home to recharge after an observing session.
Question: Will this mounting ring work with a canon rebel
Answer: Works with Meade ETX90, ETX-125, LXD-75, LS and LT models, LX90 models, LX200GPS and ACF models up to 14" diameter, all RCX/LX400 models, and other models which have a 12V "phono" type power input jack.
Question: Would this work with a Meade ETX
Answer: This is just a 12 volt DC power cord. I believe tip hot. Look on your Meade power supply for the "Output" section. It will tell you there what the output is, the Max Amp rating as well as whether the tip is hot or common. Hope this helps.
