14 best remote control for nikons
Remote controls for Nikon cameras are accessories designed to enable photographers to remotely trigger the camera's shutter without physically touching the camera. These remote controls are particularly useful in various photography scenarios and fall under the category of camera accessories and electronics. Here's what you should know about remote controls for Nikon cameras:
Wireless and Wired Options: Nikon offers both wireless and wired remote controls. Wireless remote controls typically use radio frequencies or infrared signals to communicate with the camera, while wired remotes connect directly to the camera via a cable.
Shutter Release: The primary function of a Nikon remote control is to remotely trigger the camera's shutter. This allows photographers to capture photos without introducing any camera shake that might occur when pressing the shutter button manually.
Versatility: Remote controls for Nikon cameras come in various models with different features. Some may have basic shutter release functions, while others offer additional features like interval shooting, long-exposure shooting, and bulb mode control.
Intervalometer Function: Many advanced Nikon remote controls have an intervalometer function that allows photographers to set intervals between shots. This is valuable for time-lapse photography and capturing sequences of photos at specific intervals.
Long Exposure and Bulb Mode: Remote controls with long exposure and bulb mode capabilities enable photographers to take long-exposure shots, especially in low-light conditions or for creative effects like light painting.
Compatibility: Nikon remote controls are designed to be compatible with specific Nikon camera models. It's essential to check the compatibility of the remote control with your camera before purchasing.
Ease of Use: Nikon remote controls are typically user-friendly and straightforward to operate. They often have intuitive buttons and displays for adjusting settings and triggering the shutter remotely.
Range: The range of a wireless Nikon remote control can vary depending on the model. Some have a shorter range suitable for close-up shooting, while others offer a more extended range for capturing photos from a distance.
Portability: Many Nikon remote controls are compact and lightweight, making them easy to carry in a camera bag or pocket.
Power Source: Remote controls for Nikon cameras are powered by batteries, so it's important to ensure that the batteries are adequately charged or replaced to prevent interruptions during a photoshoot.
Nikon remote controls are valuable accessories for photographers who need precise control over their camera's shutter release. Whether you're interested in capturing long-exposure shots, time-lapse sequences, or avoiding camera shake for sharp images, a remote control can be a handy tool to have in your camera kit.

Product description
The Foto&Tech FTML-L3 Wireless Remote Control (Infrared) is only 2.5 inches (60 mm) tall and can fit easily into your pocket. You can and even put yourself in the picture without having to make that silly 10 second dash. Wireless control allows users to step away from the camera when shooting. It is for use with the following Nikon cameras: D750, D3400, D3300, D3200, D3000, D5500, D5300, D5200, D5100, D5000, D7200, D7100, D7000, D40, D40X, D50, D60, D70, D70S, D80, D90, D610, D600, CoolPix P900, P7800, P7700, P6000, P7000, P7100, N65, N75, Coolpix 8400, 8800, Pronea S, Nuvis S & Lite Touch Zoom Cameras, Nikon 1 J1, 1 J2 and Nikon 1 V1 V2 V3. It acts as a wireless shutter release capable of instantly triggering the shutter without disturbing the camera, up to a distance of approximately 16 feet (4.87 m) in front of the camera. It is recommended for taking pictures of subjects that are difficult to approach, or to minimize vibration for close-ups and time exposure, and it is powered by a CR-2025 3V battery (included). The FTML-L3 supports the bulb exposure camera setting making it a worthwhile accessory for shooting long time exposures for low-light photography or unusual daylight effects. It doesn't work for D3100 because D3100 does not have an IR transmitter built into the unit. Specifications: Total length: 2.5 inches, Product Weight: 0.04 ounce.

Question: | Does it work on the D |
Answer: | Yes. |
Question: | It advertises it will work on a D5000 but I can't get it to work. No instructions. Can someone explain the steps to make it work |
Answer: | Keith, you have to enable the SELF TIMER FEATURE, in order to make the remote control work. Here I am transcribing a page of the D5100 manual that may help you... I recommend you use the 2 second interval for the timer.Once the self timer is enabled, pushing the button on the remote is like pressing the shutter button on the camera.Regards,D Before Using the Remote ControlBefore using the remote control for the first time, remove the clear plastic battery-insulatorsheet.A Cover the ViewfinderWhen taking photos without your eye to theviewfinder, remove the DK-20 rubber eyecup(q) and insert the supplied DK-5 eyepiece capas shown (w). This prevents light entering viathe viewfinder interfering with exposure. Holdthe camera firmly when removing the rubbereyecup.D Using the Built-in FlashBefore taking a photograph with the flash in P, S, A, M, or 0 modes, press the M button to raisethe flash and wait for the M indicator to be displayed in the viewfinder (050). Shooting willbe interrupted if the flash is raised while a remote control mode is in effect or after the selftimerhas started. If the flash is required, the camera will only respond to the ML-L3 shutterreleasebutton once the flash has charged. In auto or scene modes in which the flash popsup automatically, the flash will begin charging when a remote control mode is selected; oncethe flash is charged, it will automatically pop up and fire when required. Note that only onephotograph will be taken when the flash fires, regardless of the number of exposuresselected for Custom Setting c3 (Self-timer; 0160).In flash modes that support red-eye reduction, the red-eye reduction lamp will light forabout one second before the shutter is released in quick-response remote mode. In delayedremote mode, the self-timer lamp will light for two seconds, followed by the red-eyereduction lamp which light for one second before the shutter is released.A The E ButtonSelf-timer mode can also be selected by pressing theE button (0165).A See AlsoFor information on choosing the duration of the self-timer, and the number of shots taken, see Custom Setting c3 (Self-timer; 0160). For information on choosing how long thecamera will wait for a signal from the remote, see Custom Setting c4 (Remote on duration;0161). For information on controlling the beeps that sound when the self-timer andremote control are used, see Custom Setting d1 (Beep; 0161). |
Question: | how do i use this on my nikon D |
Answer: | On the back of your camera, bottom right, there is a button that has symbols that look like the wireless remote (it's not the garbage can!). Push that, then move the left/right, up/down button to select one of the bottom two choices. Basically, one is to take 2 shots and the other takes one shot. Push the OK button. Get you setting like you want them, stand back, point the wireless remote at your camera and push the button. You'll hear the shutter. That's all there is to it. It's especially great for long exposure shots. Just set it for however long you want the shutter open, push the remote button, and there you go. |
Question: | I just gotthe remote& Im unable to use this product. When I press the button the light doesnt come on should I try replacing the batteries |
Answer: | Unfortunately the signal is infrared light, which you will not be able to see even when the product is working properly. If you have eliminated other possibilities in setting up, do try another battery; but don't worry if you can't see anything. (For me, setting up my Nikon D3300, the key was shutter release mode.) |

Question: | Will this work for a Sony a |
Answer: | should, the cables that are supplied are for a various types Canon, Sony and Nikon |
Question: | Is there no way to start recording a video with this remote |
Answer: | There is absolutely no info out there about how to do this, but the answer is this: The Pixel 283 is a remote "shutter" button. Cameras do not "record" with the shutter button, they record with the record button...so you have to go into your camera settings and tell the camera to record video via the shutter button when in movie mode. Most cameras have this option. On Olympus it is under the movie menu setting "shutter function" > set to mode 2. |
