Answer:	They are about the size of a half dollar and about 1-1.5” thick. They don’t really produce a huge amount of light so if never get these for a pool. I have a 200gal koi pond that’s about 2-3’ deep and they’re barely decent for this application.

Answer:	I should add a note to my response to no stops on CPL filters: don't confuse that with CPL filters that are 3 or 6 stop (ex. Breakthrough CPL). They are a combination of neutral density filters 3 stop and 6 stop with the CPL and have nothing to do with rotation "stops".

Answer:	An RM-72 infrared filter will work on any LENS that will take this 72mm filter with two caveats: 1) if you use step-down rings from the filter to the lens visible light may leak in around the step-down rings and spoil your image. When you use a screw-in infrared filter it should be the only filter installed on your lens. 2) manually pre-focus the lens before you install the filter.

The Hoya Variable Neutral Density (ND) Filter (0.45-2.7ND) uses two polarizing layers to control the amount of light that passes through the filter and into the camera lens. At it's minimum effect the filter passes 1/3 of the light in a scene. That is equal to 1.5 stops on the aperture or shutter speed. Answer:	Hello. No, the Hoya Variable ND filters do not have a hard stop, so at the far end of the range of the filter you can see that X pattern. This is a function of the fact that this variable ND filter (and all other variable ND filters that I'm aware of) are comprised of two circular polarizers working in conjunction with each other to achieve the variable darkening of the image. There is nothing inherently "cheap" about this filter - it uses high-quality optical glass from Hoya, the worlds largest optical glass manufacturer. If I were to offer a suggestion it would be to choose a ND filter based on the quality of the glass and it's ability to darken the image without inducing significant color shifts through a majority of the ND range, rather than how it performs at the maximum end of it's range and whether there is a hard stop to prevent the filter from getting to that point. Variable ND filters are going to perform best at the beginning to middle of their usable range. Answer:	Thin is a pretty subjective word but in my opinion these are thin 'filters' - including the thread the filter is 1/4" thick - excluding the thread 3/16" (i.e. the part that would stick out of the lens). The smaller diameter versions may be slightly thinner than the larger diameter (maybe 1/16" variation)
