I went and bought a 3/8" x 16 x 12" threaded rod from Home Depot and used it on the open pre-drilled hole. It worked just fine. Photos to be uploaded showing this. |

| Answer: | The short answer is I don't know how much weight this clamp will support. I wouldn't use this type of clamp for 7.5#. I currently use my clamp for a very light (in comparison to 7.5#) Palmcorder for deer hunting. What do you think about buying a camera tripod that is built for mounting right to the top of the tripod? My advice would be whatever you get, make sure you are mounting the speaking straight up and down (as close as you can get it to vertical reasonably) as the tripod or whatever you use will work better straight up and down rather than having a speaker tilted off to the side. Hopefully, the tripods you look at will have a weight rating on them. |

| Answer: | The jaws of the clamp should work no problem. I just tried it out on a big lamp, diameter, and it cinched down nice and tight. For street riding, no vibration problem. Off-road, my paranoid self would put a wrap of seizing wire on the T-handle just to make sure it doesn't loosen up. But that's just me. The jaws are hard rubber lined, so there's no issue with dinging chrome or powder-coating. But no guarantee. Safe riding. Pick-up the variety pack of screw adapters, 1/4" & 3/8" with adapters. | Answer: | depends on the weight of the camera and attachments. it can hold my canon GL2 and my T6i with a lightweight telephoto lens well enough... but i wouldn’t trust it hold the weight of my nikon D3S, specially with the extended battery shoe and accessories for more than a few minutes. I wouldn’t trust it with my heavy camera if there is some amount of motion or vibration. Other than that, it is pretty sturdy and I use it often, primarily with lighter cameras (reflex, action, etc) |
