Hoya is a well-known brand in the field of photography, particularly when it comes to lens filters. Lens filters are accessories that photographers use to enhance or modify the characteristics of their camera lenses.Hoya offers a range of high-quality lens filters that can be used to achieve various photographic effects and protect the camera lens.
Here are some common types of Hoya lens filters:
UV Filters: UV (Ultraviolet) filters are designed to block UV light from entering the lens. They are mainly used as a protective measure to shield the lens from dust, moisture, and scratches. UV filters can also help reduce the bluish haze that can sometimes appear in outdoor photographs.
Circular Polarizer Filters: Circular polarizer filters are used to eliminate reflections and glare from non-metallic surfaces like water and glass. They can also enhance the color and contrast in your photos, making them particularly useful for landscape photography.
Neutral Density (ND) Filters: ND filters reduce the amount of light that enters the lens without affecting the color balance. Photographers use ND filters when they want to use longer shutter speeds or wider apertures in bright conditions, such as capturing silky waterfalls or blurring motion in a bright daylight scene.
Color Filters: Hoya also offers a range of color filters that can be used to add creative effects to your photos. For example, you can use a red filter to enhance the contrast in black and white photography.
Special Effects Filters: Hoya produces specialized filters that can create unique effects, such as starbursts, soft focus, and diffused light. These filters are often used by photographers looking to add a creative touch to their images.
Protection Filters: As mentioned earlier, Hoya offers various protection filters, including UV filters and clear filters, which are primarily used to protect the camera lens from physical damage like scratches and smudges.
Hoya lens filters are known for their high-quality optical glass and durable construction. They are available in various sizes to fit different camera lenses, and many photographers consider them essential accessories for their camera gear. User questions & answers
Question: | Are these filters threaded on both sides for stacking |
Answer: | They are about the size of a half dollar and about 1-1.5” thick. They don’t really produce a huge amount of light so if never get these for a pool. I have a 200gal koi pond that’s about 2-3’ deep and they’re barely decent for this application. |
Question: | are these 62mm filters? the pictures only have 72mm filter in them |
Answer: | no but you can turn on and off with the control i don’t think timer is necessary. |
Question: | Are these glass filters |
Answer: | No, they aren't magnetic. |
Question: | Is it a fixed ND filter or adjustable? If fixed what is its density |
Answer: | As long as you separate the lights, you can turn on each light individually using the remote. The remote has to be fairly close to the light for it to work. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Please advise if this is a thin polarized lenses |
Answer: | Thin is a pretty subjective word but in my opinion these are thin 'filters' - including the thread the filter is 1/4" thick - excluding the thread 3/16" (i.e. the part that would stick out of the lens). The smaller diameter versions may be slightly thinner than the larger diameter (maybe 1/16" variation) |
Question: | Are the rings brass or aluminum |
Answer: | I am thinking they are brass, but that should be a question for Hoya. |
Question: | is the circular polarizer filter multi coating |
Answer: | No. |
Question: | Will this fit for Panasonic 20mm f1.7 lens |
Answer: | Yes. |

The Hoya NXT Plus UV Filter is a multi-purpose filter that is most commonly used to protect the front of your lens, a first line of defense against scratches, rain, dirt and dust. Hoya's NXT Plus UV is a powerful upgrade to the best-selling NXT series. This filter applies a waterproof top coat to Schott B270 glass polished smooth for maximum sharpness. There are two advantages to having a premium waterproof coating: Water beads-up quickly, and easily slides off the surface of the filter for streak-free shooting. It also makes the filter a lot easier to clean when dirt, water, and smudges make their way onto the surface.
Hoya applies 10 layers of patented anti-reflection (AR) HMC multi-coatings to the NXT Plus UV filter for improved contrast, color, and sharpness. The coatings deliver a 98% light transmission so you don't have to worry about contrast-killing glare. The NXT Plus filter frames are precision milled from lightweight aluminum for a slim profile that makes it perfect for all lenses including super wide-angles.
What else does a UV filter do?
Most photographers leave a UV filter attached to the lens all the time as a form of protection. But the filter also plays an important role in filtering through UV Haze. Haze is not a huge problem when you are taking pictures at sea-level, but as you hike into higher altitudes, the filter definitely helps cut through the haze to increase contrast and improve color. The NXT plus has a UV Cut Point of 360nm or L36 which is superior to most filters at this price point.
Key Features:
• Waterproof top coat for easy cleaning• Schott B270 clear glass
• 10-layers of HMC multi-coatings
• 98% transmission rate for sharp, clear images
• Low-profile aluminum frame

Color Filter HMC 82B 77mm. In conditions of extreme light intensity, such as sunshine on snowy mountains or on the beach, or when using a camcorder, ND (Neutral Density) filters are recommended as essential. Neutral Density filters are often ignored by photographers, but they have several uses and offer the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear grey and reduce the amount of light reaching the film, they have no affect on color balance. They have four main uses: 1) To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with fast films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, cars, seas etc. 2) To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background. 3) To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (ie: above ISO400) and allow it to be used outdoors in blight situations. 4) To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which would normally cause over-exposure.
- These are light balancing filters used to increase the color temperature slightly for a cooler (bluer) tone
- Corrects the tendency toward reddish tones
- These series filters are also used to prevent the reddish tones in early morning or late evening light for natural skin tones
