12 best apc coax splitters

APC coax splitters are components that are typically used in the context of surge protectors and power strips to protect electronic devices, particularly those that rely on coaxial cable connections, from electrical surges and interference. Here is what you should know about APC coax splitters:

  1. Purpose: APC coax splitters are designed to safeguard devices that use coaxial connections, such as cable modems, cable TV boxes, or satellite receivers, from voltage spikes and electrical noise. Coaxial cables are susceptible to surges, and using a coax splitter with surge protection can help prevent damage to your connected equipment.

  2. Surge Protection: These coax splitters usually incorporate surge protection mechanisms, such as metal oxide varistors (MOVs) or gas discharge tubes, to divert excess voltage away from your devices during a surge event. This helps to maintain the integrity of your connected electronics.

  3. Noise Filtering: In addition to surge protection, some APC coax splitters also include noise filtering technology. This helps to reduce electromagnetic and radio frequency interference, ensuring a cleaner signal for your cable or satellite TV and internet connections.

  4. Multiple Ports: Coax splitters typically come with multiple coaxial ports, allowing you to connect multiple devices to a single incoming cable line. This can be useful for setting up home entertainment systems or networking equipment.

  5. Installation: Installing an APC coax splitter is usually straightforward. You connect the incoming coaxial cable from your service provider to the input port of the splitter and then connect the output ports to your various devices. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper installation.

  6. Compatibility: It's essential to ensure that the APC coax splitter you choose is compatible with the type of coaxial cable used by your service provider (e.g., RG6 or RG59) and the specific devices you plan to connect.

  7. Maintenance: While surge protectors and coax splitters provide valuable protection, they can wear out over time, especially if they've been exposed to multiple surges. APC recommends replacing these devices periodically to maintain their effectiveness.

In summary, APC coax splitters are essential components for protecting cable or satellite-connected electronics from power surges and interference. They offer surge protection and noise filtering capabilities to safeguard your devices and maintain the quality of your cable TV and internet connections.

APC PF11VT3 11-outlet SurgeArrest with Tel2/Splitter and Coax Protection (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

Based on 61 reviews Check latest price

Product description

SurgeArrests components such as MOVs and Thermal fuse ensure instantaneous reaction to lightning strikes and wiring faults. If the surge components are damaged due to power spike or over voltage, excess power cannot reach your equipment. Unlike APCs SurgeArrest products, most surge suppressors continue to let power through even after circuits have been damaged, leaving your equipment exposed to other damaging surges. Protection of data lines (Ethernet, Coaxial and Phone lines) ensures complete protection of your equipment from surges. It is very important to protect your equipment from back door surges traveling through data lines, as they can be as damaging to your equipment as surges traveling over power lines. SurgeArrest attenuates EMI/RFI line noise that can cause data errors and keyboard lockups, ensuring better performance of protected equipment.Allows use of two pieces of equipment at once, such as a modem and phone.

Question: Except for the name, this surge protector is visually identical to an amazon basics version costing less. In what material ways is it different
Answer: The output of the USB ports is 5V-3.1A, three ports share the total output ( 2.4A max per port ).
Question: What's the max wattage
Answer: this surge protector has a 900 joule rating.
Question: Does this continue to supply power when the surge protection fails
Answer: The electrical rating for this surge protector is 125V, 15A and 1875W. Don't exceed the max power when use the electric devices.
Question: How is the apc power strip compare to axtra 8-outlet metal power strip
Answer: You should be able to, as long as you don't exceed 1800 watts (That is assuming you have a max load on your outlet of 15Amps at 120 Volts). It will let you know when you are starting to overload it. But I'm guessing with your PC, Router, Printer, you are going to be using less than 300 watts easily. So you should be fine. My laptop has a 200 watt power supply, and I have a 6 watt network switch, and a 16 watt printer (200 + 6 + 16 = 222 watts).

Question: how long is the cord
Answer: My APC Power Strip Surge Protector, PE66W, 1080 Joule, 6 Outlet Surge Strip (White/Green with 6' cord) has a flat plug to go behind furniture. Like many power strip flat plugs, the power line also comes out of the plug at 45 degree angle.
Question: Does it work with 220 or 110 v

Answer: Yes, but it does not have enough output to charge a laptop. I have no issue with it keeping my iPad Pro fully charged while using it.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this have the holes to wall mount this
Answer: No, sorry. I don't experience that with mine.
Question: Is the plug flathead or old fashioned
Answer: Yes, as long as you don't exceed 15 amps. Most professional hair dryers are hand held, so it should not exceed. ( but I would not put 6 hair dryers on it and run them all at once ) If the hair dryer is a floor model with bonnet, then I would check the energy draw. I got this for use with laptops and monitors, and battery chargers.
Question: Does it have any emi or noise rejection? Straight or angled flat plug
Answer: Could it be the electronics you have plugged into it that are making the noise? If not, I would return it, I own 2 and neither make click noises. Does not sound safe!
Question: What does the other end look like, is it standard, angled or any other non-standard plug orientation
Answer: Dear: USB Port supports 3.4A max, but each usb port can be up to 2.4A, so the power strip can not charge 2 ipads at one time by usb ports, it can charge 1 ipad and 1 smart phone at one time Thanks for your queation Bototek

User questions & answers

Question: Some say the status lights are bright. Will my bedroom glow at night like an alien spacecraft
Answer: Except for the cheapest devices, other surge protectors just have a "protected" light that goes out if the surge protection fails, but the surge protector continues to pass power. I would much rather have it cut the power than to have to crawl around the equipment to keep checking to see if I am still protected. If you are worried about running the equipment in an emergency and want to risk it, keep a cheap power strip handy. That is no worse than running with one of the others with blown protection
Question: Will it work for 220-240 volt appliances
Answer: Just bought this. Seems odd that distance between screw holes is 116mm. Even odder that their conversion to inches is "4.54?".
Question: Is the 2.4a output per each usb or is that max combined? in other words what is the max output for each usb port
Answer: It does lay flat against the electrical outlet, I have a shelf unit in front of it and there is no conflict, although for safety reasons I would not push furniture too closely up against it.
Question: Does the ph8 (8 outlets only) have a flat plug? customer pictures are for various models. apc, please update product pics
Answer: Here is the data spec sheet on this APC (Schneidr electrc) surge protector. It has a 40v - Let through voltage (120v + 40v). So thats a 160v clamp voltage before the surge protector kicks in and starts to absorb the surge. https://download.schneider-electric.com/files?p_File_Name=P11VT3_DATASHEET_WW_en-WW.pdf&p_Reference=P11VT3_APC_DATASHEET And just in case the link dies, here is the schneidr electrc product page to search for this model (P11VT3) APC surge protector. User questions & answers

Question: How long is the grounding wire? Thanks
Answer: You know, I never thought about checking it. All I can say is I have one serving each of our computers and they work perfectly. Thinking of replacing the regular APC on the TV. But I'm not sure it will shut off my subwoofer when the tv is turned off because the tv still draws an amp or two when it's off. Maybe I'll try one of the 'master control" surge arresters to see if will shut off the subwoofer, before I get another one. Anyway, when you turn on or off the computer, the monitor and speakers come on or off with it. Nice.
Question: Can this unit be installed between the cable modem and the router to protect the entire network or does it have to be hooked up at the computer
Answer: The Joules rating is 2770.It is a very nice surge protector.
Question: Does this use a gas discharge tube (gdt) or tvs diodes like the cheap protectors, or something else
Answer: I think it is only for 110. It has a 3 prong plug. Hope that helps.
Question: Does this work with and protect POE+ devices
Answer: This should work as long as you understand that whatever device is plugged into the outlet marked "master", when shut off, will turn off all other devices plugged into the "controlled by master" outlets. In addition, there are 3 "always on" outlets. You could then set up by plugging the tv into the "master" outlet-bluray and soundbar into "controlled" outlet and modem, router, and computer into "always on" outlet. this would prevent any vampire power useage by the bluray and soundbar.
