Answer:	All power for this device comes from the TOP outlet of your receptacle -- so if that is switched then all outlets on this device will be switched (or if your bottom outlet is switched then all outlets on this device will NOT be switched).
Question:	What are the actual dimensions of this unit
Answer:	My outlets are flush with the cover plate surface. Both the outlet and cover plate surfaces stand proud of the wall surface about 3/16". After I remove the center screw from the cover plate , install the new wall plug adapter into the original plug [with or without the original wall plate] the new wall plug adapter does not contact the wall surface. It is about 1/8" to 3/16" gap between the wall and the rim of the new wall plug adapter. I don't like this because the result is a wiggly assembly, does not feel solid or secure even though it is firmly screwed into the old, pre-existing outlet. It the new wall plug adapter had a deeper recess on the back [wall] side it would not have this gap and would feel much more secure.
Question:	Will this work with half-switched outlets (where one outlet is always live and one is switched), or do all the outlets get power from only one outlet
Answer:	Yes, in my experience, low draw. But noticeable if on solar power.

Question:	Why does my smart home plug work on some outlets and not on others? It works fine with my Echo when plugged into one outlet, but not a different one
Answer:	All of the answers that suggest being on "A and B 120 volt sections" are wrong. This device works over WiFi. That old "A and B" advice is for obsolete powerline systems like X-10. Any problems are due to WiFi signal quality. The Smart Plug and Echo do NOT need to be on the same "120 volt section."
Question:	Do I need an Alexa device in the home to control the outlet while we're away
Answer:	As long as you have the app and the outlet is paired with your Alexa app, you can control it through the app (no echo device needed).
Question:	Does it work with a 5g wi-fi or is like the other one you sell that only work with a 2g wi-fi
Answer:	You probably don't want this device to use 5 ghz wi-fi, which has a limited amount of signal channels. 2 ghz wi-fi has fewer channels, running at lower speeds, and is generally conjested with traffic from your neighbor's wifi. You won't, however, notice a difference in lag for a smart plug due it is only using about 1 kilobit per second over a connectionless protocol to activate or deactivate the plug. This plug, running on the 2 ghz wi-fi, means that there is one more channel available on the 5 ghz wi-fi for a device that really needs it, like a TV or a gaming console, which tend to transmit at around 25,000 kilobits per second each.
Question:	My Keurig has a toggle switch. Will this plug work, or does the appliance have to be turned on when it is plugged into the smart plug
Answer:	I haven't even installed my smart plug yet and I can already answer this. The plug will turn it on but how would it press the button to brew? Again, I can already say it won't do that. Another answer mentioned using a switch bot. Okay. So smart plug $10-$15 plus switch bot $20 ... Dude, just go buy a coffeemaker with a clock/timer. They've been around FOREVER and will both turn themselves on and brew your coffee for you and you don't even have to make a whole pot. You can get an entire coffee maker for like $25 then use your smart plugs for something else/something that doesn't already have the ability to turn itself on/ect. :)

Question:	Is this a surge protector? I see it listed in the name, but no where in description or details doesnit mention it
Answer:	I don't see any mention surge, lightning or overvoltage protection mentioned in the name "GE 3 Outlet Adapter Wall Tap, Grounded Outlets, Indoor Rated, 3 Prong, UL Listed, White, 52203." The case is sealed so I can't readily disassemble the wall tap to see if surge protection circuitry but I have no reason believe the unit has any voltage or current limiting capability.

Answer:	It depends on a couple things. If it fits snugly into the wall outlet, then it stays in place when you pull a cord out of it. That snugness depends on your specific wall outlet. The second thing is that it depends on how snugly the plug is that you put into this adapter. If that is snug, then it can pull the whole adapter out from the wall. In any case, all that you need to do is hold it with light pressure with one hand while you use your other hand to pull the cord out from it. Never assume that you can pull a cord out wityh just one hand when you are using ANY kind of adapter. Using two hands when necessary is no big deal...

Answer:	2.1 amps is the rating for ONE fast charger. Since these are 2.1 total between TWO, I'm assuming not.

Question:	how do you properly install these with the ground
Answer:	These can't be "properly" installed, because that would imply the screw going through the adapter's ground tab was actually grounded. These adapters are used in cases where a modern 3 prong device needs to be plugged into an old 2 prong outlet. 2 prong outlets are a thing of the past. When they were installed only a line and neutral wire was run to them. There was no ground wire back then. Your outlet box may be metal (surely it is if it still has a 2 prong receptacle in it) but the metal is not grounded to anything, except in the very unlikely scenario where there are metal conduit runs connecting the boxes to the main panel. So when you run that cover screw through the adapter tab you aren't grounding the adapter. In the event of a device malfunction such as an internal short, stray current won't be able to find ground and therefore the circuit breaker or fuse won't trip. If stray current finds neutral inside the device it should trip the circuit breaker or fuse, but that is not how all shorts happen. Grounded areas inside three prong devices help minimize shock and fire hazards when hooked to a properly grounded 3 prong outlet. Using these adapters is a compromise between convenience and safety. I wouldn't recommend it if you are highly concerned about safety. You can replace the outlet with a 3 prong GFCI outlet (only hooking up your line and neutral wires since you don't have a ground) and apply a (often included) label that lets people know the outlet's ground terminal is not hooked up eg "this outlet is not grounded". This will provide a higher level of safety against device shorts and overcurrent than this 3 to 2 prong adapter.

Question:	Can you remove the back so it sits flush to the wall
Answer:	Most of the time, receptacles are about 1/8 to 1/4" out from the sheet rock. You can't remove the back of this, therefore it will not sit flush to sheet rock. Not a good design. I don't like the gap between the wall and this unit.

What causes an electrical surge?

In stormy weather, when thunder happens close to the transmission line, the conveying circuit will create induced surge voltage. This can also occur when a large electric device is turned on in the power circuit. Both types of induced surge voltage can interfere the electric devices connected. The first type can damage the devices.

Frequently used surge protection components

Surge protectors can be added to the power circuit to prevent the damage. The surge protectors are constructed with different types of surge protection components. The most frequently used ones are MOV, GDT and TVS. MOV has medium energy absorbing capability and response time, so it is widely used in simple surge protection circuits. GDT has large energy absorbing capability but longer response time; TVS has response speed less than 1Ns with small energy absorbing capability. All three of them are used together to construct professional surge protection circuits.

POWRUI 3-Level Surge Protection Circuit
