Based on this key feature of the design, ( which is the ball anchor / fastener ), it seems to me that the advertised 6" specification is correct accordingly. Note: Using the 6" specification, my bungee has a "minimum" stretch of 6". The approximate "maximum" was 14". | Answer: | The exterior covering does fray. If you use a fitting on the end, or tie a knot or glue, or whip the end, ( use a piece of fishing line lay a loop along the end of the cord then rap one of the two ends over both towards the end of the loop at the end of the loop thread the end you are rapping thru the loop, then pull the opposite end of the loop line to trap the end you were raping into the loop securing the exterior fabric. With the exterior cover secured, you could use a sharp box cutter and trim leaving 1/16, or 1/8" exposed to prevent cutting the whip line. |
