Answer:	I use this to change HDMI 1080p coming out of a roku box on which I watch netflix into analog component 1080i on an ancient CRT display. If it were downconverting to 480i or 480p, I think I would see that. The image is too good on the component output to be 480 anything. So if netflix is embedding some kind of hdcp in their stream, this thing is ignoring any effect that might have on its final component analog output. It is my understanding that any hdcp flags are in the digital domain and do not appear on analog component output. Such flags are intended to influence or alter the analog output signal and cannot by their nature be still present in the component signals.
