12 best ge coax splitters

GE coax splitters are electronic accessories used in home entertainment systems, particularly for distributing cable or satellite TV signals to multiple televisions or devices. These splitters are designed to split the incoming coaxial cable signal into multiple output ports, allowing you to connect multiple devices without the need for additional cable runs. Here are some key points about GE coax splitters:

  1. Signal Distribution: The primary function of a GE coax splitter is to distribute a single incoming coaxial cable signal to multiple devices. This can include televisions, cable boxes, satellite receivers, and other audio/video equipment.

  2. Frequency Compatibility: GE coax splitters are designed to work within specific frequency ranges, typically covering the frequencies used for cable TV, satellite TV, and over-the-air broadcasts. It's essential to choose a splitter that is compatible with your specific signal type and frequency range.

  3. Port Configurations: GE coax splitters come in various port configurations, including 2-way, 3-way, 4-way, and more. The number of output ports determines how many devices you can connect to the splitter simultaneously. Common configurations include 2-way for splitting to two devices and 4-way for splitting to four devices.

  4. Insertion Loss: When using a coax splitter, there is typically some signal loss as the signal is divided among the output ports. The insertion loss is a measure of how much signal strength is lost during the splitting process. Lower insertion loss is preferable for maintaining signal quality.

  5. Terminators: Some GE coax splitters include terminator caps for unused output ports. Terminators help reduce signal reflections and interference on unused ports, which can improve signal quality.

  6. Compatibility: GE coax splitters are generally compatible with most standard coaxial cable connections. However, it's important to ensure that the connectors (F-type connectors) match the cables and devices you are connecting.

  7. Installation: Installing a GE coax splitter is relatively straightforward. You connect the incoming coaxial cable to the input port of the splitter and then connect the output ports to your devices using coaxial cables.

  8. Signal Quality: It's important to use high-quality coaxial cables and connectors to maintain signal quality when using a splitter, especially if you are splitting a signal to multiple devices over a long distance.

  9. Signal Amplification: In some cases, if you are splitting a signal to many devices or over a long cable run, you may need to use a signal amplifier (also known as a signal booster) in conjunction with the splitter to maintain signal strength and quality.

  10. Warranty: GE coax splitters typically come with a limited warranty, providing some assurance of their quality and performance.

In summary, GE coax splitters are essential components for distributing TV signals to multiple devices within a home entertainment system. Choosing the right splitter with the appropriate port configuration, frequency compatibility, and signal quality is crucial to ensure that all your connected devices receive a clear and reliable signal.

User questions & answers

Question: how long is the power cord
Answer: Hello Steve R Jones, thank you for your question. The power cord is 5ft.
Question: Has anyone tried using this to improve picture from an old game console (like an Atari2600 or Intellivision) that uses coax
Answer: Hi Mathew, thank you for your question. This amplifier is designed to only boosts signal strength to compensate for cable loss and minimizes reception dropouts. If you have any further questions, please feel free to respond or give us a call between the hours of 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM Central Standard Time, Monday through Friday at 1-800-654-8483. Thank you.
Question: How much does the amplifier boost the signal
Answer: This should NOT boost the signal. It is a DISTRIBUTION amplifier. If you use a regular splitter, then the power is divided among the outputs. If you use a 2-way passive splitter, then each TV will get half power. A 4-way passive will give you 1/4 power at each TV. The purpose of this is to take a good signal in and send four good signals out. This will NOT turn a bad signal into a good signal.
Question: most questions are about the antenna but, how well does the booster work - how many miles does it give, is it better than standard antenna boosters
Answer: How good your signal is & how many stations you get is 100% dependent on your antenna, but an excellent antenna with a long cable run can still give poor performance because most of the signal is lost in the long cable. This amplifier only has one purpose - To make up for the loss of signal in your long cable between the antenna and your TV. Buy a good antenna . . . . a BIG one if your stations are far away, mount it as high off the ground as is practical and then add this amplifier and a quality cable and you'll have the best signal quality possible for your location

User questions & answers

Question: I want to hook this up to my direct tv dish for the signal and run two boxes with two separate wires. Is this what I need
Answer: Yes, it should not give you any problems.
Question: Can I use this outside my house to split my Comcast cable? The current 3 way splitter they are using is not grounded. Do I need to ground this 4 way
Answer: It is my understanding that there will be about 7db of signal loss on each port. The more you split the signal, the weaker it gets. This is not usually a problem unless you are starting with a weak signal and then splitting it multiple times. If you need a stronger signal, you can put a signal amplifier as close to the source as possible.
Question: Do I need to actually plug anything into the input on this? I just want to link multiple moca 2 devices on existing home wiring
Answer: These devices are passive with no "active" electronic circuitry. As such they essentially perform a resistive "split" taking and input signal and splitting it to 3 outputs, each with a lower "output" signal than the "input". BUT, since the device is passive, signals can go both ways from the "outputs" back to the "input", again with some reduction in signal levels for the input and other outputs. It's a bit complicated so you might think of it as a major 2 lane roadway as the signal "input", but with 3 additional smaller single lane secondary roadways that permit signal "traffic" to either exit to them from the main roadway, or have smaller roadways provide "signal traffic" back to the main highway with no one-way roads, stop signs or traffic lights to impede the signal "traffic" flow.
Question: Can i use this device to add an ota signal from an attic antenna to the cable from my catv service and then separate the signal at the rear of my tv
Answer: You'll need an adapter (transformer or balun) that goes from a 300 ohm ("old screws") to 75 ohm F-Connector (pushpins). You can likely find one at Home Depot or Lowes. Failing that, Amazon has them for about $7- here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FFNTNQV/ref=sxts_kp_tr_2?pf_rd_p=8778bc68-27e7-403f-8460-de48b6e788fb&pd_rd_wg=gnveX&pf_rd_r=CACFYS8SY3ZC0AX3DFDE&pd_rd_i=B07FFNTNQV&pd_rd_w=go4gS&pd_rd_r=f0993bb1-701f-451b-9271-7e563935a8bb&ie=UTF8&qid=1546465511&sr=2

User questions & answers

Question: Will this support twc connection - 100 mbps internet, phone and tv? Customer service says I need 3 way splitter
Answer: Sorry, I don't have that system.
Question: Any signal lose with the 4-way splitter compared to the 2 and/or 3 way splitter
Answer: This device is a passive junction connector. Amplification may be required depending upon the distance your signal has to travel. Mine works fine without amplification and the signal travels over 50 feet from the source to the box.
Question: Bidirectional? then why does 1 connector say in and 3 say out. shouldn't all 4 say in/out
Answer: You can use outside. You are advised to use the weather seals.Just don't use with or for Directv or Dish.Cable Splitters are not designed for that.
Question: Is any of these compatible with the old screws in the back of an old tv I have and hooking up item like my vcr component which has the pushpins
Answer: I am not sure. It works for my Xfinity cable.
