Answer:	yes, my 2003 has them also and what I did is unscrew the screws that holds the side cover so I could push the straps from the covers under the cover. Then I screwed them back in. I didn't need to unscrew them all the way. It gives it a very clean look and holds the covers in place. It gives the side a very clean look. The only issue was because of all the mechanics under the seat (motor, seat warmer) I used a wired hanger to tape the straps onto it so I can wiggle my way through all that stuff. These seat covers are still great after a few months. For the price, they are worth it!
