This is an IR remote, line-of-sight required. It is NOT Siri remote, NO Voice control, NO Touch Pad function.
Use 2x AAA batteries, NOT included.
1. For certain APPs on Apple TV (e.g. Zwift) they are designed to ONLY use touch interface to control them, not by buttons. For this reason this remote does not work with these APPs. This is a button remote only, working with the most TV APPs in the traditional way. If a touchpad interface is required, the original Apple remote is the only option.
2. Throughout the history of Apple TV there have been several generations. The older Apple TVs use Infrared(IR) remote control (the aluminum remote), and the newer ones use the siri remote (the touchpad remote). This remote can support all generations. For older versions it generally requires a pairing process to register the remote with the Apple device. For the newer models it does not need pairing. It should work automatically. Please make sure there is NO obstacle in front of the Apple box receiver(a white LED blinks while pressing the remote). Without any obstruction this remote can work from ~25ft away. In our tests we found you don't have to aim exactly at the device or TV IR receivers. If you find this remote can only work within a close distance (e.g. ~10ft) or does not even work, there must be something blocking the signals for the Apple box, such as it behind TV or in a cabinet/closet.
