First thing to know about cleaning vinyl records is that playing a dirty record will damage the vinyl and negatively affect the sound quality. Maintaining clean records will preserve not only the life of your LPs but also the life of your record player. Here’s a few tips for cleaning:

If your record is visibly dusty, do not contaminate your brush by dry dusting. You will harm both brush and record. Wet clean your record first.

To use your carbon fiber brush, spin record on turntable and lightly mist brush with spray cleaner. Place brush at a 90 degree angle on the record. With light pressure on the brush, allow record to rotate a few times and then slowly slide brush towards you. Lift brush straight up. Rotate brush bristles back and forth against underside of handle to clear the dust from the fibers.

Dry dusting your records with a carbon fiber brush before and after play is the best way to keep your records clean and sounding great.

Do not touch/pull on bristles of carbon fiber brush. Incorrect use may cause bristles to shed.

Always remove surface debris and dust before any deep clean.

New records are not necessarily clean records. Clean your records before the first play.

Less friction is better. Be gentle with your albums.

A turntable or stylus in bad shape will damage your record. Keep your stylus clean in between records by using a stylus brush. Always brush cartridge back to front, never side to side or front to back.

Answer:	I have been a record collector for over 30 years. This is the best record brush I have ever used the brush is used for cleaning dust and dirt off of the record before playing. It does not clean the smudges on record and dirt that gets into the groves. To clean the smudges and dirt in the vinyl grooves you need to clean your records. The best way to clean records is to buy a record cleaning machine they vary in price. From very expensive to fairly cheap. I clean my records myself and do not use a machine. You can go on to you tube and see all the different ways to clean records. Pick the one you think is right for you and your budget.

Question:	Does the cleaning fluid contain alcohol
Answer:	Just lightly touch the record held at a slight angle with the turntable on. Record turning. Brush just needs to very lightly touch records. Only need turntable on. Receiver does not need to be on. Just turntable when cleaning. Other wise you might get feedback that could make it sound worse than it is. Brush won't hurt records, but only needs to lightly touch records
Question:	How many ounces is the cleaning liquid
Answer:	With this brush...hardly any at all. On a record that is already clean you can use this brush for very light duty dust removal but it will not get down into the grooves where you really need the cleaning.
Question:	Kit lacks instructions so one must guess which brush to use and how. Can anyone provide what the vendor failed to: where/how to use kit's contents
Answer:	I have used these types of brushes for a while now and I don't know about scratches, but I have not noticed the AudioQuest leaving any fibers. And let me qualify about the scratches. Most of my vinyl was bought second hand at garage sales, Goodwill, etc., so they are far from pristine and I would not notice if it added a micro type scratch to the bottom of a groove. Before playing any newly acquired used LP I examine it through a desk lamp with 3 X magnification lens so that I don't play a badly scratch record and ruin my diamond needle. When doing the exam I use the AudioQuest (or a LP Gear X3 cleaning brush if the record is a little dirtier) to remove light dust and eliminate static electricity. Under the loop I see the dust and particles being removed and have not seen it scratch a record. I will add that even after using my original discwasher (with newer D4+ fluid), the AudioQuest brush removes additional dust particles which the discwasher left behind. I have verified this through a 10 X loop and noticed the difference audibly through trial and error and playing a section a few times. Of course the AudioQuest or any similar brush is only for light dust or static. If your LP's are really dirty with finger oil, soil or mold, you need to wet wash them and store them in a proper sleeve.
Question:	Is there any instructions on how to use this cleaning kit
Answer:	No -- it does not leave its own bristles on the disc. If there are fibers on the vinyl before using the brush, it will pick up many of them. Using a clean microfiber towel, or a record cleaning machine first will help for very dirty LPs.

Question:	Do the bristles come off the brush
Answer:	Yes. Had the brush for 4 months and the bristles started falling out in bunches. Only use it 1-2 times per week.
Question:	looking for an algae brush for in ground safe for vinyl liner with extra long handle
Answer:	It worked good on my vinyl I ground. But I do buy a new one every year. Does not come with a pole. Remember to replace them each year, pull on the bristles to check them, if some come out this means they are getting in your pool and could cause holes in the liner. Have not found one yet that last to the next season.

does it come in a case

Answer:

Very slightly moisten the brush before you use it on a record. This serves to supress static electricity and also causes dust to adhere to the brush so that you aren't just pushing it around the record. The liquid should be something that evaporates fairly quickly (the record should be dry when you play it) and leaves behind no impurities. Always rotate the record under the brush while holding the brush stationary, not vice versa. Use a minimal amount of downward force to avoid putting stress on the platter mounts, motor and/or belt and to avoid forcing debris down into the grooves. After the brush has caught all the dust on the surface, slide the brush off the record away from the spindle while keeping it in contact with the record. To clean the brush simply rotate the bristles back and forth under the handle. That will free the dust from the fibers.
