Question:	I don't know much about cables to speakers, but do these work well with the sony ss-cs5 speakers
Answer:	The 2709B has a 66 Megohm resistance measuring capacity in its top end ohmmeter function. Other types of megohmmeters, sometimes known as "Meggers" include the ability to put high levels of DC stress voltages (500V, 1000V, etc) on the load (such as large transformers, inductors, Power Factor Capacitors, etc.) while also indicating resistance in Megohms. Clearly, the 2709B, while being able to measure simple resistances, cannot substitute for these. The 2709B only has a 9V battery inside, and is not intended to generate the high DC stress voltages that a "Megger" can. That said, it is still a wonderful instrument for its intended purpose. "Meggers" are a highly industrial instrument usually used in High Power Distribution systems, a different world entirely than that of Low Voltage Electronics Troubleshooting.
Question:	Will this become prime shipping anytime soon
Answer:	Yes. For the lower current fuse, which is the one you most likely may need to replace, search for a: F 500 mA 500V ceramic 6.3 x 32 mm (6 x 32 mm) fuse. The 'F' stands for fast blowing ('flink') and the 'ceramic' indicates it has a ceramic body that will not grenade under extreme overload. In a pinch you can use an 'FF' ceramic fuse, where FF stands for very fast blowing ('flink flink'). Over time, however, an FF fuse may blow at high currents when it does not need to. I have tripled checked the fuse data against what is printed on the meter and against the spare fuses packed with two different meters, made roughly a year apart.

Answer:	If you are asking if the banana plug will fit into the connectors you push the speaker wire into then the answer is probably no. For that type of connector I would consider coating the ends of the speaker wire with a thin layer of solder once the ends are in good shape so they will be easier to connect and disconnect.

Setscrews are fine, but lack pull strength; compression connections are never as strong as they look like they're going to be; and solder, on large high-mass connectors, is slow going and tends to cause a lot of insulation meltback. At Blue Jeans Cable, we were never happy with the conventional methods of attaching speaker cable to banana plugs. Setscrews are fine, but lack pull strength; compression connections are never as strong as they look like they're going to be; and solder, on large high-mass connectors, is slow going and tends to cause a lot of insulation meltback. Our solution: ultrasonic welding. Our Sonobond Ultrasonic Welder (made in West Chester, PA) welds the copper wire to the brass banana plug body without the excessive heat associated with conventional welding, fusing copper to brass in a tight, strong, low-resistance, reliable connection.

This cable is made using Canare's popular 4S11 star-quad speaker cable stock, which contains four 14 AWG wires in a Black PVC Jacket. To this cable we weld our custom-made weldable banana plugs, designed specifically to maximize weld surface area for high weld strength. These are "locking" banana plugs -- the plug end consists of four splines, and advancing the locking collar around the connector spreads these splines, allowing you to tighten the connection once the banana is in the binding post and avoid plugs being accidentally tugged out.

User questions & answers

Question:	is this wire flat enough to run under wall to wall carpet
Answer:	Wire run directly under carpet is unsafe, even for speaker wires. Wire run under carpeting gets stepped on crushed and ground by the fine grit that passes through the carpet, and the soft vinyl insulation fails under the carpet where heat builds up until the carpet ignites. It's a major source of electrical fires and the primary reason why the electrical code now requires new installations to use arc fault circuit breakers that detect the failing insulation and shut off the power. When speaker wires are run under the carpet the fault power is limited only by the output power of the amplifier. Any audio amplifier you'd buy 14AWG speaker wire for can deliver far more than enough power for failing insulation to build up heat and ignite a fire under a carpet. Amplifiers don't pass the high frequency current noise of a developing fault to the power line so an arc fault circuit interrupter won't shut off the power. The safe solutions are all boring, unpleasant, or difficult to implement. You can route the wires a different direction to follow the perimeter of a room, even around a door frame to avoid an opening. You can use one of the products that protects wires under a carpet together with under-carpet padding to keep a flat carpet surface. You can also route UL listed cable (NB: this product isn't) through walls, above ceilings and under floors to emerge where you need it, although a renter may need the owner's consent to do something like that. You may find that concealing wires is easier when the wire is smaller. This is a CCA wire, which has same resistance as aluminum wire. Pound for pound Aluminum is one of the best conductors, but it isn't a dense metal. In the same wire size aluminum or CCA is only half as good a conductor as copper. A 14AWG aluminum or CCA wire has the same resistance as a 16AWG copper wire that's much smaller and more flexible and far easier to conceal.
Question:	Why does the package not tell us which is positive and which is negative? That hard to put on there
Answer:	Hello Erik,Typically when connecting speaker wire as a standard the solid or dashed white lines on the individual wire indicate that that particular cable carries the positive (+) polarity. The other cable that is unmarked (without dashes or white lines) is the negative (-) cable. As long as you use the cable with the white line as possitive across your entire setup, your equipment should all be setup properly and perform the way its intended using our GearIT speaker cable.Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me directly.

Question:	Can this wire be buried directly in soil
Answer:	For my in ground install I bought the cable they use for low voltage outdoor landscape lighting (bought it at Home Depot). It is inexpensive, carries the signal fantastically, and is designed for direct burial. Unless properly insulated, aluminum doesn't do well when it is in direct contact with the soil. FYI - I am an electrical contractor with 35 years experience so I know a little about direct burial cable. Hope that helps.

Choosing The Right Speaker Wire

Gauge refers to the thickness of the wire in the cable. The lower the gauge number, the thicker the wire. In order to choose the correct gauge speaker cable, the speaker impendence rating will need to be considered. Speaker impendence refers to the resistance a speaker offers to the current supplied by an amplifier.

Impendence (like resistance) is measured in ohms, and choosing a wire that an amplifier or receiver can handle is important.

An important consideration is that the wire gauge is suitable for the impedance of speakers and the wire length. Please follow the chart provided as a guideline to assist in finding the best gauge for your system’s performance.

**NOTE: for most household speakers, 14 gauge CCA speaker wire will work for running each cable length of 50ft or less.
