User questions & answers
Question: | I'm trying to hook my m audio studiophile monitors to a ur-22 interface. are these the cables i need |
Answer: | I am using them on my m audio bx8a too my focusrite 2i2 interface |
Question: | Are these cables good for converting stereo monitors to mono |
Answer: | It's tough to say for sure without knowing the specific equipment you are using but if you are hooking stereo monitors (1/4" plug) to a single stereo 1/4" plug.... try thishttp://www.amazon.com/Hosa-Cable-STP203-Dual-Insert/dp/B000068O1P/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1446101525&sr=8-9&keywords=hosa+1+4+stereo+to+monoIf you need a true mono "Y' cable check this out (this is overpriced in my opinion)http://www.amazon.com/HOSA-TECHNOLOGY-CYP-105-Cable-Dual/dp/B00J8D6XVA/ref=sr_1_38?ie=UTF8&qid=1446101665&sr=8-38&keywords=hosa+mono+y+1%2F4I hope this helps.... |
Question: | Are these as good as XLR plugs/cables |
Answer: | Not really. But it depends on your needs. I think most pro engineers will go for XLR. More solid connection and an extra conductor (3 wires inside.) But to plug a guitar into an amp, you can use these. The price is right, and they are dependable, in my experience. (you have to treat them with respect...don't pull on them or yank them, or suspend stomp boxes from them, know what I mean?) Hosa is good, for a budget cable. You get what you pay for, but these are worth a try. Not for microphones though - that's when you almost always need XLR. Conner's answer is accurate, and better than this one. |
Question: | If I buy this item i will get a cable for my left monitor and one for my right monitor right? Or is it just one cable |
Answer: | Yo G., This is a Pair of 1/4" TS (Tip/Sleeve) Mono cables. The two wires have separate jackets and insulation, they are merely conjoined. It is simple to pull them apart to connect 2 devices, in your case, speakers. If you have a mixer, or some device sporting a Left and Right output, these could be used to run both channels.Just be sure of your length before ordering, and be aware that plenty of studio monitors utilize Balanced (Tip/Ring/Sleeve) inputs.Unbalanced (TS) cables will work. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this suitable for connecting a footswitch to a midi keyboard controller |
Answer: | yes, it will work |
Question: | Can this cable support rode videomic go to a camera |
Answer: | The Rode requires a 3.5 mm connection. This is a TRS and is far too large. |
Question: | Does it work for amp and cabinet connection |
Answer: | for a head to cabinet connection use a regular Speaker cable like the SKJ 430. it's a 3' mono cable with a 1/4" male jack ... The cable you're asking about is a shielded TRS Stereo cable & not really suitable for and Head/Cabinet connection. |
Question: | would this work to add effects into my mixing board |
Answer: | Short Answer - Yes this would work for adding effects into your mixing board if it has 1/4 inputs\inserts. Some only have RCA and you would need a different type of cable. Long Answer - This is a TRS (Tip Ring Sleeve) 1/4 inch to 1/4 inch cable. A TRS cable is simply a better shielded standard TS (Tip Sleeve) 1/4 cable. An example of use for this cable would be to chain guitar effect pedals and rack effects. A longer version of this cable could be used to go from a guitar to a amplifier, mixing board or guitar effect pedal. |

The Hosa ymp 434 Female TRS 1/8" To dual male TS 1/4" Stereo breakout cable is designed to split a stereo signal. Black and red coded mono phone plugs indicate left and right respectively.
- No headphone output? Merge two mono 1/4" outputs into a stereo signal for your headphones' 1/8" stereo plug, thanks to this dual TS to TRS Hosa adapter
- This cable is designed to split a stereo signal
- Black and red-coded mono phone plugs indicate left and right respectively
- 3.5 mm TRSF to Dual 1/4 in TS
User questions & answers
Question: | If I plug in a 1/8" mono source, will I get the same output on both the L/R channels? Or will I only get sound from the L(mono) channel |
Answer: | It's stereo. So you are correct to expect that a 3.5mm mono plug as the source will give you audio on one phone jack and silence (ground) on the other. |
Question: | so, is this a stereo 1/8 female to a dual mono 1/4 male |
Answer: | Yes. TRS - Tip Ring Sleeve. "While a TRS and stereo 1/4" use the same plugs, the input signal going into the cable are quite different. You already know stereo but a TRS is a balanced signal. Balanced means two indentical signals are sent, one into the TIP which is in phase and the other signal is inverted 180 degrees out of phase which goes to the RING. When plugged into a mixer or preamp/amp that accepts a balanced signal, the RING gets inverted back in phase with the TIP and then both signals are summed. It you didn't invert the RING back in phase, sound cancellation will occur. Why is this important? Any noise that enters the cable will be equal in both TIP and RING. By inverting the RING, the noise from each side will be now out of phase with each other and thus cancel each other out without cancelling out the original signal. Add a low impedance, you can run MUCH longer cable runs compared to an unbalanced signal without sound degradation and noise intereference via the cable. Another plus is a 6dB gain from summing the TIP and RING.If you don't plan on running long cable runs, an unbalanced cable will still work fine with the ES. You'll also have 6dB less gain to work with which might be a problem if your amp, preamp or mixer doesn't have sufficient gain to make up for it. Compared to other unbalanced acoustic pickups, the ES is on the low output side in unbalanced mode." |
Question: | Why are the connections not common grounded? I tried connecting a stereo device to two inputs on my Focusrite Saffire Pro 40, but the audio was mono |
Answer: | I obviously can't identify a specific problem without knowing the configuration, but I can make a general comment. This adapter should take a 1/8" stereo plug and split it into two mono 1/4" TS plugs - Left and Right. The example is a 1/8" cable from a mobile phone to two inputs on the Pro 40. This should give you a stereo signal split between L & R. My adapters work fine. One problem I have had is with the 1/8" cable going into the adapter - Sometimes it is not inserted far enough to get both channels - it may require an extra push to get it to snap into the adapter. It could also be the other end of the 1/8" cable. Check the output from the Pro 40 on each channel separately. One output channel should be panned to the left and the other to the right. These are just ideas. If you have a Pro 40, I'm sure you've tried all of these. It is possible that the adapter is defective, but I've never had any problems with Hosa (except for the extra push to get the cable to snap into place - but that is rare). |
Question: | So if I have something with 1/4" L/R output can I plug this in and use headphones to listen? Kind of confused by the description |
Answer: | This adapter makes a connection between a device with two Mono 1/4 inch female outputs and a 1/8 inch stereo plug like a headphones. 1/4 inch "TS" means T = Tip: signal; S = Sleeve: ground. Besides 1/8 inch "TRS" means: T = Tip: right signal; R = Ring: Left signal and S = Sleeve: ground. So if you connects only one 1/4 inch plug you will get a mono signal in your headphones, left or right. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long are the 1/4 cables split for? My monitors are on each side of my computer. If it is only split for a few inches, this will not work for me |
Answer: | The plugs are close together but the cable is made as a zip cord which means that you can separate them more. But I would note that this particular cable has the larger 1/4 in. plugs on that end and are probably too large to fit your speakers. But if that actually is the size you need, yhen yes, it can easily be pulled apart to adapt. |
Question: | How many cables are in 1 pack |
Answer: | This is one cable only with 2 ends it is a Y Cable Abby 888 656 2475 |
Question: | I'll be using a Behringer Xenyx 802. Can I plug the two 1/4 jack into the L/R MAIN OUT and the 1/8 jack into my mic in on my PCI-E sound card |
Answer: | I suppose you could do that, if you want all your sound sent to your computer. I would use a "Belkin Audio Y Cable Splitter 1-Mini Plug, 2-RCA Plugs (6 feet)" cable & connect to your L/R output on your mixer. (the red & white ports) |
Question: | Does this act as a stereo splitter, one plug is left, the other is right |
Answer: | It is a simple physical conversion of connectors. One end is a three conductor (3.5mm "stereo") male the other ends are "left" and "right". The idea here is to allow you to plug an ipod or other personal media device into a soundboard or amplifier that uses two conductor or mono 1/4" "phone" plugs. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer and want to be able to plug my phone into it to record phone interviews. Would this cable work for that |
Answer: | Yes ... amp must have 1/4” output and speaker cab must have 1/4” input ... |
Question: | i have a gt1002 speaker with a 1/4 input will this cable work if i wanna play music thru my phone with |
Answer: | If your sub is powered you probably don't want to use this cable this is actually a speaker cable so this goes from a power amp directly to the speaker sounds like you have the amplifier built into the speaker so you would need just a regular connection not a speaker connection I wouldn't use this for that! |
Question: | Does the 1/4" end have a 10k resistor to sum the stereo signal to mono or are the stereo signals just connected together to create a mono signal |
Answer: | Yes, as long as you have 1/4" output on the amp and 1/4" input on the speakers |
Question: | Has anyone had any issues with this cable damaging an iPad headphone output? Some reviews imply that it could |
Answer: | No, this is not the right cable. You would need one with 1/8" ends. |

User questions & answers
Question: | So I can hook the male jack up my amp and connect each female jack up to a separate speaker and get stereo sound, correct |
Answer: | Wire is 24AWG , Capacitance Conductor to Shield: 37 pF/ft |
Question: | If i connect two stereo microphones into a recorder, my final result would be a mix of all 4 channels or just 2? say l from mic1 and r from mic |
Answer: | This is a balanced cable (note XLR connector and 2nd "ring" on 1/4 inch connector) intended for use between balanced sources. Guitars are unbalanced. If you need to plug into a mic input you should buy a DI (Direct box) connect it with a regular microphone cable and plug into the DI with your guitar cable. |
Question: | I have 2 speakers. Can I use this to output left song channel to one speaker and right song channel to another speaker |
Answer: | absolutely! they are great. |
Question: | If I use this adapter, plug one mono mic to left and another mono mic to right will the sound in my video be stereo |
Answer: | Yes as long as your mixer has the 1/4" balanced output jacks and your speaker has the XLR balanced input jacks then this will work great. Mogami is one of the best brands and best quality you can buy. |

Question: | Is there a case that the tester fits into |
Answer: | I have bought single plugs on amazon . these things are great |
Question: | Will this check dmx xlr connectors |
Answer: | No. The package says: "Designed, engineered and assembled in USA with foreign and domestic components." |
Question: | Does this test VGA cables? It keeps showing up when I search for VGA tester, but I don't see anything to suggest it can test VGA (DB15/DE15) cables |
Answer: | I believe so. I know they have the 2 connectors with 2 feet of cable. Individually, I’m not sure |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this plug work with mono applications as well as stereo |
Answer: | Just the 2 channels. Stereo has 3 rings 2 positives and a negative. This separates the positives and splits the negative (1 for each channel). Each female plug has 1 positive and 1 negative. So regardless of what you out into them, each side will be mono and still only come out stereo. |
Question: | What is the Female and what is the Male plug of this cable? Does it work in both directions |
Answer: | Yes, I used this to output from TV to receiver and then to stereo speakers. |
Question: | Is this one balanced or unbalanced |
Answer: | The source from the mono mic you plugged into the left will be routed to the left channel, and that from the mono mic you plugged into the right will be routed to the right channel. When combined by the proper recorder, it will produce an audio track with left and right channels. |
Question: | Will this cable allow me to record music with my guitar to my laptop |
Answer: | If you look at the list prices you'll notice the instrument cable kit lists for more. The only difference I can see is that the instrument cable kit comes with 4 straight jacks and 6 angled. When I purchased the pedalboard kit it was less expensive than the instrument cable kit. |

Question: | Will this work for recording audio from a keyboard headphone jack to an audio interface |
Answer: | Yes, as long as your audio interface accepts TS inputs. input will be high impedence "instrument" level |
Question: | Would this work to connect my tv to my line 6 ux2 so I can hear my ps4 and my pc |
Answer: | As the Amazon write-up for the Hosa CMP-310 3.5 mm TS to 1/4 inch TS Mono Interconnect Cable says,"This cable is designed to connect an electronic device e.g., cell phone having a mini mono phone jack to an electronic device e.g., electric guitar having a mono phone jack."If your "line 6 ux2" has a large guitar-like female jack, you're good on the big end. Large computers (desktops and towers) do not have the smallish mini phone jack. Laptop, notebook, and tablet computers usually do. I have no idea what a "ps4" is. Remember, the cable is MONO so it is not suitable for transmitting music audio. |
Question: | Can this cable connect 3.5mm cv jacks to 1/4" cv moog jacks |
Answer: | It will do any 3.5mm to 1/4" mono connection; that's all I know. I use it from my guitar to my Korg MS-20 mini, for example. Don't know the specific things you're asking about but if one is a mono 3.5mm connection and the other a 1/4" mono, you should be good to go. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Is this cable balanced |
Answer: | No |

User questions & answers
Question: | What size awg is the cable |
Answer: | 3 feet |
Question: | Will this work as a stereo cable? i know it is a balanced trs |
Answer: | This is a stereo cable |
Question: | What size AWG are the conductors in this cable |
Answer: | One ad lists a 3 foot cord at 16 awg, but I highly doubt that is the number associated with the plug you are asking about. I'd say 18 since they don't list a wire gauge size. That's an educated guess, ballpark. I was an instrument mechanic for the refineries so I'm familiar with smaller wire sizes. |

User questions & answers
Question: | my studio monitors accept trs output and buying an interface that has rca. will this be good for connecting? is it stereo or mono |
Answer: | Im not sure why you're asking the question? Most mixers accept a TRS 1/4 plug (looks the same as a stereo 1/4 plug, put is wired differently to the mic) or a XLR input, and this is preferable because the 3 wires to the TRS plug cancels out hum and noise. If for some strange reason your mixer only accepts a 1/4 mono left and 1/4 mono right (two connections on each 1/4 plug), then yes this would work, (MAYBE) most likely you will have a signal but so much hum or noise that it not worth it. The thing is you can try it, you might get lucky, but if it doesn't work its because going from a TRS to separate left / right mono defeats the purpose of the TRS, noise canceling wiring (and that's why high end mixers only use TRS or XLR for mics etc inputs) Good Luck. |
Question: | if I cut the rca end of, could I use it as regular speaker wire |
Answer: | Thank you for your inquiry. Firstly we don't have E-Bay Store...For online platform, we only operate business on Amazon. Secondly, I am sorry but we don't have male to male with in-line volume control cord. Thank you very much for your asking. |
Question: | Would these connect to the focusrite solo |
Answer: | I use it from the tv to my bed and it is long enough and it helps me not to make noise to my wife while I watch tv. That way i avoid problems |
Question: | Is this a TRS Cable |
Answer: | Yes. This cable has the same sized jack (3.5mm) that is common among headphones and portable audio devices. This will extend the headphone cable by 4 feet when connected as you described. |
