Answer:	Hello and great question! The answer is that you can control the electrical power into the coffeemaker with the plug but the programming is done manually. You could plug the unit into the smart plug and then program the brew time for later that day or the next morning, but ultimately you'd have to re-set the brew program again from the onboard controls.
