Answer:	I don't remember, but My recommendation is not to buy these. First time using them, when one shoe hit another on the ground, shoe broke.
Question:	How do you get stakes in the ground
Answer:	You will need to buy a Horseshoe Stake Shovel (sold separately). Mark the spot on the stake where you want ground level to be. Then purchase a Horseshoe Stake Measuring Device (sold separately). Measure the length from the pointy tip of the stake to the mark you made. Then, using the Horseshoe Stake Shovel, start digging. Measure often, using the Horseshoe Stake Measuring Device, because if you dig it too deep, you'll have to cover up the hole, and start again. Anyhoo, once you reach the exact depth as determined by the Horseshoe Stake Measuring Device, STOP DIGGING. You will now need to purchase a Horseshoe Hole Filler (sold separately). This looks like the Horseshoe Stake Shovel, but don't be fooled; it is very different, because it costs more and is a different color. At this point, you will need to place the stake in the hole, being careful to balance it so that it doesn't tip over. Start gently, very gently filling the hole with dirt, using the Horseshoe Hole Filler, and being careful not to tip the balanced stake over. Continue filling the hole until the ground is level. Then, when tomorrow gets here, you can measure the proper distance from the first stake to the desired location of the second stake, and repeat the process, remembering to do this one left-handed, and counterclockwise.

Answer:	We had the same experience since this product is so poorly made. We had our new Champion horseshoes out of their case for less than 20 minutes before two of them broke in half. There are a lot of other options available on the web that have solid steel horseshoes, and I would highly recommend those instead of trying to replace these with more of the same. Good luck

Answer:	Sorry - I have to disagree with earlier (too simplistic) answers. Basically, you really can't use them effectively on a beach. The posts are too dang short. By the time you get them to hold in anything they would be very short to shoot to or to really grab a shoe even if you toss a perfect ringer. The shoes are just a perfect mid-weight - I've had heavier and lighter, but these cut the fine line between women and kids being able to use and not being shut out of playing as well. Wanna play on a beach - by plastic shoes perhaps . . . with longer posts regardless. IF you want to use the shoes on a home "court" - that's what I'm doing and they are 5 star for that !

Answer:	These shoes are FORGED steel - this is what makes them durable. The cheep stuff is cast iron - those would crack very easily. These are top notch - highly recommend.

Answer:	The shoes have a small, raised horizontal line across each end and below that is an indentation for a thumb, I presume. I throw my shoes from the middle.

Answer:	The only rules I see about stakes is that they need to protrude 14"-15" So I would prefer a 24" stake over 36" I can't imagine pounding a stake 22" into the ground and expecting to get it out unless it was at the beach. From the National Horseshoes Pitchers Association: Stakes - The stake is the target at which the shoe is pitched. Stakes shall be positioned in the very center of the pitcher's box, on the court's lengthwise centerline, with a minimum of twenty-one inches (21") from the stake to the front and back of the pit substance. The distance between stakes shall be forty feet (40'). This distance is to be measured from the front of each stake, level with the pitching platform. Stakes shall be one inch (1") in diameter and shall be made of cold-rolled steel, mild iron, soft metal, or NHPA-approved synthetic material.
