Answer:	Each medallion is only 7/16th of an inch dia which is 1/16th of an inch less than 1/2". The maximum digits that can be engraved is listed when you customize it. One of the two medallions does not have to be a picture. Theres an area when u order to tell them to "customize" it. On one, I was able to get 2 lines that said "NUMBER 4". The 4 was the 2nd line. (That was the name of my cat) I highly recommend this product, they do a great job. Try to send as good of a picture as you can. Mine looks just like my late cat!

It shows you where to tell them if you want it "customized". I have had mine for over a year now and it is in fine shape. I wouldn't scrape, scratch or rub it too hard, tho. Treat it like a fine pc of jewelry. They did a great job on mine! It looks just like the pic I sent of my late cat. I had to mail a "thumb drive" to them for the artwork cuz I couldn't get it to transmit. That is an option if you don't think your pic will come out very well uploaded. I love mine. Enjoy!
