Answer:	I carry my 11” Chromebook with room to spare. Mostly, I carry letter size files and a couple of books. One of my folders is about 9X12”, and it fits with no problems. This bag might work for you, and in my opinion, it would be worth a try. I love mine.

Answer:	There is no specific extra cushioning. However, the outside flap & interior compartments do allow for some protection.
Question:	Does the bag keep its shape after several uses
Answer:	I haven't unloaded it & reloaded it yet, & a lot depends on how much "shape" you expect it to keep. I find that when it lies open at home, it slouches a bit but when the flap is secured, it holds it's shape fairly well. It does not have anything more than double thicknesses of canvas material giving it shape but I was surprised how well it stays rectangular. My bag stays fairly full. Someone who didn't fill it would probably have problems with it holding shape over the long haul. Frankly, it's hard to answer because expectations vary a lot. My expectation was that it would hold my stuff & not be mistaken for a rag. It exceeds those expectations. But if you expect it to be perfectly squared off in all situations, that's probably unrealistic.

Answer:	I purchased this bag and I, too, discovered a terrible odor in the lining. I've put deodorizers in it to no avail. I've hung it outside overnight with the lining hanging out. The odor is still there. Now a friend of mine has it and plans to soak it in a tub of water and something she has that is supposed to neutralize odors. Hope this works. Good luck with yours.
