If you go smaller, it very well may fit her top, but be to snug around the bottom. It is a "big and fluffy" robe, but oh so snuggly and warm. Hope this helps.

Answer:	In case you're still pondering...Was thinking about your question again...2xl will have a LOT of fabric, might cramp the wheelchair. There is also a zipper issue. It worked just fine when I unzipped it all the way and opened the robe. Then I reclosed and it was good. But I could never open the zipper at the bottom (ankle length zipper) again. I think it's installed a little wrong. It's not a big issue for me...I just open it 90% and step in, or I put it over my head. Love it too much to send back. It does have more fabric than I need but wouldn't say it's swimming! Probably a 1X would fit fine for a 2xl person.

Then be sure that when unzipping there is no fabric caught in zipper, that the teeth have a clear path. Then when both zippers meet and fit in place, try zipping up again using top zipper.
