The only reason I would go down to a D is if you plan on wearing it with a very low neckline, or a halter that exposes your side. in that case a smaller cup will be better since the bigger cup may show past your dress/top. If you do go down a cup wear it with a tight top/dress to get the most support and lift. I use double sided tape around mine to secure my neckline from moving around.
