Answer:	I have not had any leaking issues with the pen as it is. However, I remarked is a previous review that the cap is a very soft metal and if you keep it in your pants pockets the cap will bend and warp if you sit and and lean over. If anything, keep it in your breast pocket. The first one I had bent the cap so much it ripped off the spray top. I was in a part of the workplace that if it went off or leaked that would have been a big time problem!! I had to replace the pen. If anything, put a thin piece of black electrician's tape on the cap and main body of the pen just to make sure the cap stays on. Not too much tape that'll prevent you from taking the cap off with just a tug. It's ok for defense but be aware this is a very short distance pen. Ten feet is the MAX limit.
