Answer:	I would think so. Although, I'm not a skier. While wearing it, I cannot see my feet or the floor around me, I am also short, don't know seeing the ground is important or not.

Answer:	You won't "die," per se, but you will likely fall into an enchanted sleep very much LIKE death.
