Answer:	No, they feel like they are actual big erasers. They did work. I used them to get out dirt around the collar of a suede jacket. I guess the rubbing action on the suede is what worked. They are smooth and soft and they are not harsh on the suede.

Wet shoe (not soak), apply small amount of soap, scrub with small bristle brush, then remove saddle soap with a wash cloth, and let shoes dry. Then use the suede/nubuck brush after shoes have dried. My shoes (nubucck) came out looking like new. Was somewhat surprised, but really pleased.
