Answer:	If it’s sterling silver, it will tarnish unless it has some sort of modern coating (what do they make these coatings out of? Polyurethane? No idea). Haggerty silver polish is very gentle. Toothpaste will work too. Of course it can oxidize on your body. It can oxidize on your display shelf too. It can even oxidize in its anti tarnish paper over the years. I have lived my 55 years with sterling silverware (forks knives spoons), sterling Christmas tree ornaments (need polishing each Xmas..) , sterling and plated table decorations. The reason people buy sterling is 1) it can be polished back to original luster where as played stuff will eventually wear off to the point where you can see the u deleting copper or brass or other metal that was played and 2) typically the metal is not harmful and 3) its purported to be somewhat of an inhospitable host to germs and finally 4) food tastes so much better off of silver

Answer:	This chain is very thin. It you plan to put a pendant on it that has any weight, the chain is probably too thin. It would be better to buy a chin that is 1.5 mm think.

Question:	Will the lining protect silver from tarnishing
Answer:	I ordered the 20". It's ok, but needs cleaning much too often......I have my doubts whether it's real silver. I believe it's silver mixed with something else, because it tarnishs after a couple of days wearing it. I bought one at a jewelry store and I only have to clean it every 6 mths or so and I wear it every day. I hope that helps.
