User questions & answers
Question: | How long will this watch continue to keep time if not worn? (I alternate between multiple watches) Thx |
Answer: | Approx?after 12 hour period. It's my everyday watch, but when I don't have it on, it's always stopping. |
Question: | On Amazons picture it shows the day as Dom(domingo for spanish speakers) Will I get the english version |
Answer: | From the product description: "Features include luminosity, sweeping second hand, canvas band, and a date window that can be formatted in English or Spanish" |
Question: | What size nato strap does this take? Do you utilize the existing springbars? Anyone recommendations |
Answer: | 18mm. Seiko springbars are great, I've never broken one. Google "snk809 wornandwound" for some pretty pics. Lots of NATO/Zulu/mil spec strap options but stay away from the cheap ones. Look for ones that thread stitch the seams and not just heat welded. Maratac, Clockwork Synergy, Nato International are good brands to start looking. |
Question: | What is the TRUE water resistance...there are 3 posted |
Answer: | 30 METERS (3 bar or atmospheres) which equals 100 FEET - the product description is incorrect and backwards. That being said, most 30m rated watches are okay for being quickly splashed for cleaning, but not rated to be WR for swimming pool or beach. This is not a dive watches which usually starts at 100m Water Resistant depths and have screw-down crowns. |

User questions & answers
Question: | If the band breaks can I get a new one |
Answer: | Not worried about band. I am 80 years old it will outlast me. I am very active but when I take it off it stops very quickly. |
Question: | Why do they call these watches Solar when they are not? It’s an automatic not a solar |
Answer: | It's certainly NOT solar. Somebody was probably careless while updating the information. I own this watch. It's automatic and.....it's totally beautiful! |
Question: | I have a large wrist, how long is the strap |
Answer: | Hi there, total ( altogether ) strap length is 10 inches. I hope it is long enough for your wrist. I am happy with my watch. |
Question: | Why there’s only 3 indices between the 1 and 3 o’vlock And the 3 and 4 o clock? Annoying |
Answer: | Because of the fat day/date window taking up so much space, that's why. Squeezing in another index will render the said areas too crowded; not elegant. No, personally speaking, it's not annoying at all. Aesthetically, it has done no wrong. Then again, it's my personal opinion. I simply adore this watch. The green dial with the gold indices are a perfect match. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where is the watch made |
Answer: | The watch is made in Malaysia, not Japan. |
Question: | Can I change the band to rubber |
Answer: | Technically any strap/band you find with a 22mm lug width would fit. It doesn’t have to be seiko branded, just 22mm. Also, check out namokiMODS to accessorize your new srpd. Good luck with your new purchase! |
Question: | What is the warranty on this? Are you a certified seiko dealer |
Answer: | 3 years in the US 1 year everywhere else |
Question: | states automatic, yet states analog display....does watch have sweep second hand |
Answer: | Watch is "Automatic" so it does not have a battery to power the movement. Self winding rotor you can see through the back of the watch, provides the power with the movement of your wrist. It does have a smooth moving second hand. I am happy with this watch and definitely recommend it. Excellent price too. |
Product description
SEIKO 5 - the meaning of the "5" A great marketer had the idea in the 70ies: to be a SEIKO 5, the watch has to have the following 5 (five) attributes (thus the name SEIKO 5): 1. Automatic, 2. Water resistant, 3. Shock resistant, 4. Date, 5. Day. Please note that some SEIKO 5's are in fact SEIKO 4's, if the "Day" function is omitted, then the Caliber 7S25 is used. The only difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of the day wheel. Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Sports often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is similar to the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels as opposed to the 21 Jewels in the 7S26. Please note that all these movements beat at a rate of 21'600 bph (beats per hour) or 6 bps (beats per second). As a comparison, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28'800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21'600 bph. Why do I mention these three movements? Because they are found in probably 80% of all inexpensive automatic wrist watches. A market share that is huge, yet challenged these days (2006) by an increasing share of inexpensive China Made automatic movements An automatic watch (also called a self-winding watch) is a mechanical watch, typically with a balance wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the motion of the wearer's arm, instead of having to be wound manually every day. Whereas a quartz watch is powered by electricity, a mechanical watch is powered by a mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time

User questions & answers
Question: | Este producto es para hombre o mujer |
Answer: | When the watch is working properly it will stay charged with daily sunlight. My watch did not maintain a charge, I sent it back for repair. They fixed it quickly at no cost. Watch has worked perfectly since that repair. |
Question: | Is this a women’s or men’s watch |
Answer: | You have to reset it, but it's very easy to do. (If you remember. LOL) |
Question: | how do i set day and date |
Answer: | My band is approximately 8.5 inches in circumference including the watch. It fits fine on my wrist, a little loose but not uncomfortably so. I weigh approximately 100kg, but I'm not sure weight plays that big a factor in wrist size. |
Question: | Are all the day names black or some red? i saw some pictures on other sites where sun was red and sat was blue |
Answer: | The band was about 1/2" to long for my wrist, it is something you can do yourself , go on U-Tube and they show you exactly how to do it |

Question: | Is there any way for you to ship to Turkey |
Answer: | No idea. But it is Amazon, and Amazon can do pretty much anything!! |
Question: | How many tpd or turn per day is required for this watch? I need to buy an winder. Please suggest a good one |
Answer: | I love this watch but you don't wind it conventionally. It is automatic so you have to tilt it back and forth and the pendulum inside does the winding for you. Simply wearing the watch will wind it up and then it is good for 24 to 30 hours on standby. If you wear it every day it will keep good time. If it sits for a couple of days you will have to set the time and date, tilt it back and forth a few times and then it is good to go. |
Question: | Would the strap on this watch fit a 7 1/2" wrist |
Answer: | My wrist is 7-1/2" and this watch fits me perfectly. |
Question: | does it have a manual wind feature |
Answer: | This model does not have a manual wind feature. This model has an Seiko Automatic movement - Powered by the movement of your wrist |

User questions & answers
Question: | The dial and band look black in the picture but the specs say they are both blue. So which is it |
Answer: | The dial is a dark navy blue and the band is black. 100% positive on that. Great watch too. |
Question: | anybody have any problems with this watch |
Answer: | Not for me... mine is still running strong from the day my Dad (who already passed away) bought this watch almost 25 years ago. I only changed the strap to velcro type since the original rubber strap only last me about 3yrs or so. My watch show a little sign of old age and worn out the blue and red color, but appart from that is run as good as new everyday. Very reliable. Been using this for swimming and snorkling not deeper than 20 feet and it's still good. Just remember to tighten the dial before you put it in water. |
Question: | is it worth to pay his extra money |
Answer: | Don't know what you are paying. The 21 jewel version is made in Japan the 17 jewel version elsewhere . Hope this helps . |
Question: | i would be willing to pay a little more. is it possible to get this with a us seiko 3 year manufacturer's warranty |
Answer: | I'm pretty sure seiko discontinue this model. So doubt there will be a manufacturer warranty available. I'd skip the warranty anyways for a watch this price. Service would likely be cheap in the rare chance that you need it. Best to research for yourself for specifics. |

From the master craftsmen at Seiko, the Seiko Men's SNK795 Seiko 5 Automatic Black Dial stainless steel Bracelet Watch is a cutting-edge timepiece with a masculine appeal. Featuring a black analog dial and a silver stainless steel band, this watch is packed with style and would be a great addition to your watch collection.
This is an automatic mechanical watch. Automatic watches do not operate on batteries; instead, they are powered automatically by the movement of the wearer’s arm. If the main spring in your automatic watch is not wound sufficiently, timekeeping may become less accurate. In order to maintain accuracy, wear the watch for 8 hours or more per day, or manually wind the main spring by turning the crown. When not in use, automatic watches may be kept charged with an automatic watch winder – a watch storage unit which may be purchased separately.

User questions & answers
Question: | It is listed at a 19mm band, others have said it is 20mm (more common of a size). Can anyone confirm/deny what size band should be purchased for it |
Answer: | Must Seiko 5's are water resistant, or 100 feet (30 meters), which means splashes only, no swimming. The photo of the back of the watch shows tha this watch is only water resistant not 100 meter. Either the seller has trouble with units or honesty. |
Question: | Are they solid links? It looks in the picture like one might be folded down and ground on the sides |
Answer: | I spent the few dollars involved and had a jeweler remove them since I have a small wrist. If you do it yourself without the proper tools, you will inevitably screw up the design of the watch band which I don't believe is worth it. Bob Geluz |
Question: | The case diameter says 32mm in the prouct specifications but 37 and 38 under the various features, details & descriptions. What is the actual size |
Answer: | It does not have a light - it is a mechanical watch, so it does not have any batteries either. The hands and hour markers on the face do glow in the dark though. |
Question: | What is the size of this watch? Listing says 37mm/no thickness.....specifications says 32mm/6.6mm which seems impossible even for a woman's watch |
Answer: | Most of the answers here are simply wrong. I own this watch, have an accurate digital caliper and know how to use it ;-). The SNK793 has a case diameter of 37.4mm; the dial diameter is 30.4mm. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this a watch seiko snk803k1 or seiko snk803k |
Answer: | I received a k2 |
Question: | Wore my new watch for twelve hours, took it off for twelve hours and it stopped. Is this normal |
Answer: | That is normal. Your watch is self winding. The watch needs your everyday movement to keep it running. You lay the watch down for some time and it will stop. It needs the movement of you wrist to keep it wound up. I wear mine day and night and it never stops. You may never had a self winding watch. They had them in the 70's. you could never lay them down for to long a time they need your movement. Hope this answered to question. Doug L. June 21, 2015 |
Question: | Does "automatic" mean self-winding |
Answer: | Yes, "automatic" means self-winding. It also means it's a mechanical watch and not a quartz (battery operated) watch. The term "automatic" is a term from well before battery operated quartz watches existed. Older watches either had to be manually wound on a regular basis (generally people wound their watches daily) - then when self-winding watches became available, (and that was a very long process before they became reliable and affordable) - they were called "automatic". |
Question: | How do I stop the second hand to set the exact second? I pull the crown out to the second position, but the 2nd hand doesn't stop |
Answer: | While the movement is non-hacking (i.e. the seconds hand doesn't stop when you pull out the crown), there is a way to make it stop: pull out the crown all the way into time setting mode, then begin to slightly turn back the time. No need to keep turning it back, just turn it back a fraction and then hold it steady and keep holding it, eventually the seconds hand will stop. This happens more easily when the main spring isn't fully wound. (When fully wound it may not work at all). This applies to all watches with this 7S26 movement. |
