Question:	It is listed at a 19mm band, others have said it is 20mm (more common of a size). Can anyone confirm/deny what size band should be purchased for it
Answer:	Must Seiko 5's are water resistant, or 100 feet (30 meters), which means splashes only, no swimming. The photo of the back of the watch shows tha this watch is only water resistant not 100 meter. Either the seller has trouble with units or honesty.
Question:	Are they solid links? It looks in the picture like one might be folded down and ground on the sides
Answer:	I spent the few dollars involved and had a jeweler remove them since I have a small wrist. If you do it yourself without the proper tools, you will inevitably screw up the design of the watch band which I don't believe is worth it. Bob Geluz
Question:	The case diameter says 32mm in the prouct specifications but 37 and 38 under the various features, details & descriptions. What is the actual size
Answer:	It does not have a light - it is a mechanical watch, so it does not have any batteries either. The hands and hour markers on the face do glow in the dark though.
Question:	What is the size of this watch? Listing says 37mm/no thickness.....specifications says 32mm/6.6mm which seems impossible even for a woman's watch
Answer:	Most of the answers here are simply wrong. I own this watch, have an accurate digital caliper and know how to use it ;-). The SNK793 has a case diameter of 37.4mm; the dial diameter is 30.4mm.

Question:	How accurate is it
Answer:	It only shows day and date. The day can be set for either English or Spanish, on the photo is shows Spanish.
Question:	Does this watch come with manufacturer's warranty
Answer:	The case is 37mm. I don't know the lengths of the lugs extended from the case. It's a smaller watch slightly in comparison to the skx009 (Pepsi diver) in diameter, but much slimmer in thickness because the snk807 isn't waterproofed for saturation or beefed up in thick stainless steel for extra durability. It won't get in the way with long sleeve shirts/dress shirts. It's not a "cheap" watch by any means in terms of build quality. It does its job as it is intended to do. It's a comfortable sporty/dress casual watch that can go on adventures taking a beating, to work in many environments, and to last you for possibly your whole life with Seiko's robust and accurate 7s26 movement. You will not be disappointed.
Question:	Does anyone have a picture of this watch in the dark with the markers at full glow
Answer:	An 18mm band is the largest size you may use on the Seiko 5 SNK807.
Question:	If it is solar, why "Nonstandard Battery batteries required
Answer:	As the owner of this watch for 12 years, I can tell you to go ahead and disregard the people who say you can only "wash it but don't submerge it." Baloney. The manufacturer may not claim its waterproof (because then how do they claim the next step up is better? Or avoid having to replace the occasional QC fail?) But here's a list of what you can do in this watch without concern: I've snorkeled in this watch down to 5 meters for four+ hours of continuous submersion. I've laid in a pool for an entire day, playing volleyball and going down waterslides. I've parasailed and jumped off high dives. I've gone jetskiing, boating, waterskiing, tubing, kneeboarding and fallen HARD wearing it. I've showered, bathed and sat in hot tubs FAR beyond the recommended healthy time limit with it on. Not a whiff of condensation or corrosion. NEVER been serviced. Still keeps perfect time. With the exception of actual SCUBA diving beyond 5 meters, this watch can take it. Not sure if these other guys own one or just read a website describing what WR means, but I own it, I've owned it a long time, and there's simply no stopping this thing. There is literally no better watch on earth for $60. Believe me, I've looked. I also own far more expensive watches and keep considering re-buying this one. I love the size of it too, very demure. Can find it cheaper on ebay and other watch sites than on amazon, too.

Answer:	Yes the Seiko 7S26 movement winds both ways.
Question:	Is the black finish on the watch case a 'brushed' matte look or is it shiney/glossy... can't really tell from pics
Answer:	Hello John, you can certainly replace the band and there are many beautiful bands on amazon. I am not sure about the specific canvas band but you should be able to find a nice one for your watch. Just look at the technical details for the band size and happy hunting. PS: You might not want to spend too much time and money buying a new band as the watch is prone to failure after a couple of months. Mine is caputt and in the trash already and even with the warranty, you will spend more time and money sending it back and forth than the $60 you paid for it.
Question:	Is the waterproof indicator accurate
Answer:	I know the original question is from 3.5 years ago; but, for the benefit of new people researching this watch: This movement has a maximum of about 36 to 40 hours of reserve when fully wound (advertised ~41 hours). To expect an automatic watch at this price point to go longer than that is just ludicrous. If you have worn it all day, that should get you through at least overnight. Give it the "Seiko shake" (hold face up and shake it back and forth) for about a minute to ensure it lasts through the night...I don't think you need to, but it adds a bit of tension to your mainspring and can't hurt. If you take it off Friday and not move it until Monday morning, it would be an unrealistic expectation that it will still be running.
Question:	One person says 22mm, Seiko says 20 mm, so what is the actual band width? I'd like to replace mine when I receive it with a rubber band
Answer:	The included instructions are for several of Sekio's movements, and not all of them will allow setting the second hand. This one does not. I've read that you can pull the crown in just as the second hand reaches 12, that you can press in on the crown, that the second hand "slows down" when you're moving the hands backward with the crown, and other similar anecdotes, but I can not replicate any of them on my watch. It sure LOOKS like the second hand slows down when you set the watch backward, but if you try it with another chronometer handy you will see that that is just an illusion.If you look carefully in the manual, you will see that it does not claim this as a feature of the automatic movement, only the quartz and automatics without day and date.The Seiko 5 is a very remarkable design for the price. You cannot find much in this price tier that is even close in quality. That said, it's an affordable watch that keeps moderately good time. Even if you could set the second hand, I'm sure you will find that it quickly gets out of sync. Mine loses about one minute in 24 hours when it's kept wound. A skilled watchmaker could probably get that down to half a minute or perhaps less. But it's still breaking in, and nothing in my life depends on that degree of time accuracy. :)If to-the-second timing is critical, you should get a quartz watch, because even most tourbillon watches priced in the six figure range are still not as accurate as a $50 digital watch.

Question:	how long does it hold a charge
Answer:	It's 22mm. You don't measure a watch's band size at the buckle. You measure a watch between the lugs from inside to inside of the lug. I bought a nice silicone strap for mine, the strap that comes with the watch is terrible. A 22mm Ancool quick change strap fits it perfectly and is sufficient to fit comfortably on my 8 inch wrist with just enough room for both keepers to lock down into the holes on the strap for the buckle tongue. If you're looking at silicone straps get one with square holes, most of those have keeper locks on the keepers so the little loop that holds the extra strap down doesn't go wandering up and down the strap.
Question:	is the watch Made in Japan
Answer:	The sides are glossy, but as you look directly down (where you would normally view it) its a matte, finely brushed look surrounding the surface and on the face below the hands. A very nice aesthetic overall. Also, I'm extremely hard on watches and nearly no signs of wear in nearly two years. I've never owned a watch so scratch resistant (over 50 years).

Answer:	The "100 Meter water resistance" rating is not actually a rating of diving depth but of pressure. Because if you lower the watch on a cable to exactly 100 meters depth, it will not leak. BUT, swimming and the arm motions necessary to moving and maneuvering will cause more pressure on the watch case than the watch is actually rated for. I.E. if you were to dive with a 100 meter watch to 100 meters when you move the arm that the watch is on through the water the resistance of the water creates an over-pressure. Just because a watch says it's rated to 100 meters does not mean you can dive with it to that depth, it means that it's rated to take the same pressure that would occur at that depth when the watch is mounted in a pressure tank. This is an important distinction because if you try to dive with this watch to 100 meters, or even 75 meters (which is still pretty deep for casual diving) it will leak and that is NOT a failure of the watch. It's a failure of your understanding of water resistance rating. I would not use this watch if I were going deeper than about 100 feet, which is roughly 33 meters. Actually, I wouldn't even dive with this watch, I have other watches (actual ISO rated diver's watches) for that kind of thing. This watch is fine for swimming, shallow snorkeling, playing around in a pool, etc. I never buy a tool watch that has less than 100 meters rating because then I don't have to worry about it leaking water into the movement for any casual activity, showering, washing my hands, etc. "Tool watch" as opposed to "dress watch". A dress watch is a whole 'nother critter. It doesn't have to have a lot of water resistance because it's not for getting wet, unless you regularly go snorkeling in a tuxedo or business suit. That kind of watch is for a different purpose and if it's not rated to 100 meters you really should take it off before you wash your hands because just mains pressure coming out of the tap exceeds its water resistance rating. I have a gorgeous older Seiko Chronograph in gold on an alligator strap that will fog up if it even sees water from across the room. it's not really that bad but it's not meant to get wet.

Question:	When buying for xmas how long do you have fir returns
Answer:	That is a good question . The literature says 10 months on a full charge . In bright light I would initially place in a south facing window for 8-10 hours each day for a week . The watch comes from complete darkness in shipping which could have been a very long time . Assume it is barely charged and follow my advice . It has an overcharge feature to protect the battery . Each minute of bright sunlight is equal to an hour of runtime , so 7 , 8 hour days of charging is 3360 charge hours or 140 days of reserve charge . Seiko is a good watch but it's light gathering is behind that of Citizen . Put it in a window one day a month afterwards and it should eventually have the stated 10 month reserve . Just be sure the watch does not get very hot in the window or it will damage the battery .

Answer:	this is not accurate. it has Japanese movement; but not made in Japan. That means is made or assembled in another country. Very few Seikos are made in japan and you'll see that in the front face in small letters.

Answer:	The best way is to purchase a link removal tool from Amazon. It comes with easy to follow instructions. I had to take 4 links out of mine, and with the tool it was super easy to do. I think without the tool you would need to take it to a jeweler. I think I paid $6 for the link removal tool. It comes in handy for other jewellery also.

Answer:	No the face is not backlit, but the minute and hour hands and the hour markers have a lumibrite finish that "glow" in the dark.

Answer:	I think it can be used by either a man or a woman. I have thin wrists so I tend to like smaller men's watches which used to be much more common. In recent years, watches have grown to be too large for me, so the Seiko 5 is what I choose to wear. I have several. I think a woman would like this watch, if she prefers a larger readable watch. Answer:	No, the owner's manual clearly states you have to manually adjust the watch to the correct date. You also must manually adjust for daylight savings time by syncing with a corresponding time zone

Answer:	It's a standard 22mm strap. You will need a 0.8mm pin tool like a Bergeon 6767-F to push the pin out (the lugs are drilled through). I replaced mine with a silicone strap because the leather + nylon strap supplied with it, while surprisingly nice for this price, is not waterproof.

Answer:	Yes, go to Amazon and search Eco Drive men's solar watch. Model BM8180-03E with a red second hand measures 37mm so is quite a bit smaller than the Seiko. The Citizen has been out for many years, is a top seller with Reviews showing 4.5 out of five stars and over a thousand reviews. But, it's a Citizen, not a Seiko if that matters to you.

Answer:	i'm kinda fussy myself when it comes to spending money on a good watch..i like the second hand to match up with the markers too. i had the same watch and the second hand matched up with the markers. quite unusual for a seiko not to do that. you can return it and try another one. i don't know if this is caused by the mechanics of the watch or the face of the watch was installed a little off.

Answer:	Didn't the watch come with instructions? Anyway, ONLY SLIGHTLY pull out the screw ( at the top) which you use to set the time; not so far as to make the watch face hands move. One way moves the DATE, the other the DAY-which displays twice ( as you turn the screw), once in English and then in Spanish ( Mon; Lun...as in Monday and Lunes), and then continues. Which ever way you turned the screw to effect the DAY; turn the opposite way to effect the DATE. Hope that helps. P.S. You will have to adjust for the months ending in 31 days ( by using the same technique to advance the date) or the 1st of the following month will show the 31st.
