Answer:	Not really. But the tail gate will only open as far as it did to start with. It is very heavy duty plus you will not have all the extra weight like with a swing out rear bumper, also you will not have the rattling around sounds from the swing open style. I am very happy switching from the swing open tire carrier to this and really think you will be impressed to.

Answer:	The tire is tilted forward at the top so it is at an angle. This could be adjusted to be straight with the use of spacers in the top holes and longer bolts. Overall this is a great product very well made and strong. I searched several options due to the fact that I do not like the bumper mounted spare tire mounts over time all give problems releasing and moving because of wear and the weather.
