Answer:	The sound is from the inner sole rubbing on the inside sole of the shoe. Cut a dryer sheet in half and put the half piece under the inner sole. That will stop the squeaking.

Answer:	For the people who aren't 100% sure if these shoes are waterproof; don't attempt to answer the question. The real life answer is an unequivocal yes. I have no idea if Merrell advertises these shoes as being waterproof but here’s my real life experience after owning them for about 5 months. I returned today from two days at the Masters Golf Tournament, practice rounds where it poured rain on and off for the better part of those two days. I wore these shoes and hoped they would just slightly repel water because I really had no other shoe options for this event and the expected rainy conditions. While there I walked through puddles of water inches deep, through mud inches deep, grass soaked with both water and mud. Honestly, I could go on about the inclement conditions. At times it was nightmarish but in two days not a drop of water ever penetrated the interior of these shoes; it was amazing. My feet were completely dry each evening when we returned to our place. This afternoon, at home, I brushed the dried mud from the shoes the best I could then brushed them again with a dry paper towel. They're not clean but they look pretty darn respectable. Tomorrow I'll try to clean them with soap and water per Merrell website instructions to see what that does. Bottom-line no water inside either shoe after two days of soaking rain. PS - no blisters or sore feet either.

Answer:	No, but I sprayed them with weather-proofing spray on the brown and they’ve been fine in the rain to protect the leather. The spray slightly darkens the leather but not much. Even application from a distance per instructions is important.

There is a shoe called the 577, which is the update for the old 574 walking shoes, is that what you received? The 877 is a different shoe, but it's a more expensive shoe so if you like it, you got a deal. If you don't like the 877, first check your confirmation to be sure what was ordered and let the seller know you received something different than what you ordered.

Answer:	It does have a wide toe box, but if you need a wide shoe, you might not get what you want. I ordered a pair of 14 wide, which turned out to be not too bad. I noted that a 14-X wide was available, so I ordered it. It turned out that sole to sole against the 14 wide, the soles were exactly the same size. However, it does appear that the uppers were slightly wider, and it gave me just enough extra room that I needed. However, the same sole size might just be for the larger sizes and in a smaller size the x-wide might actually have a wider sole than the wide.
