| Answer: | Yes, they will work for tackle football if its just for fun or trying it for the first time. What you need to know about these shoes is that the sidewalls on the shoe are very thin and flimsy and will not support your foot when doing real cuts and thrusts. Then again I am assuming your child is 8 or 9 years old, so depending on the skill level your child is at you may want a different shoe style. For youth football, I recommend the Nike Sharks. They are very good for youth players and depending on the position you may need a low or mid top shoe based on the position your child is playing. For linemen mid-top shoes are usually worn, they provide good ankle support for thrusts and top of the foot protection. Low-top are more for backs and skilled positions, they provide good side stability for cuts and are designed for speed. If color and looks are more important than skill and protection then these green shoes will work just fine. I myself purchased a pair for my daughter who played soccer for the first time this year at the age of 7. I was not too sure she would like playing so I didn't want to spend too much on shoes, but she is really doing well. At first, she was not sure she would like the sport but gave it a try to see if she would like it. With five games into the season, she is one of the top players on her team and wants to play again on another team after this season is over. Her next pair of shoes will be soccer-specific side-laced Diadora or Adidas cleats with better support for cuts and control and cushioned for all-day support and speed. |
