2 best mens jackets
Men's jackets encompass a wide range of styles and functions, tailored to various activities, weather conditions, and fashion preferences. Here are some key points about men's jackets, particularly those related to shells and active performance:
Shell Jackets: Shell jackets are typically lightweight, waterproof or water-resistant outer layers designed to protect against wind and rain. They often lack insulation, making them ideal for layering in colder conditions.
Active Performance Jackets: These are designed with specific activities in mind, such as hiking, skiing, or outdoor sports. They tend to have features like moisture-wicking materials, ventilation, and specialized pockets for gear.
Types of Shell Jackets:
- Hardshell: Made from highly durable, waterproof materials like Gore-Tex. These are excellent for harsh weather conditions.
- Softshell: More flexible and breathable than hardshell jackets. They offer water resistance and are suitable for activities with high mobility.
Insulated Jackets: These come with added insulation for warmth, making them suitable for colder weather. They can be filled with materials like down or synthetic fibers.
Layering Potential: Shell jackets, especially those without insulation, are designed for layering. This means they can be worn over base layers and mid-layers for added warmth and versatility.
Breathability and Ventilation: Active performance jackets often have features like underarm vents or breathable materials to help regulate body temperature during physical activities.
Seams and Zippers: Quality jackets often have sealed seams and water-resistant zippers to prevent moisture from seeping in.
Hoods and Collars: Many jackets come with adjustable hoods and high collars for added protection against the elements.
Pockets and Storage: Active performance jackets may include specialized pockets for storing items like goggles, gloves, or other gear.
Fit and Style: Jackets can come in various fits, from relaxed to slim. The style can range from technical and sporty to more casual or fashion-forward.
Versatility: Depending on the features and materials, some jackets can be versatile enough to be used for a range of activities, from outdoor adventures to urban commuting.
Care and Maintenance: It's important to follow care instructions provided by the manufacturer to ensure the longevity and performance of the jacket.
When choosing a men's jacket, it's essential to consider factors like intended use, climate, and personal style. Additionally, investing in a reputable brand known for quality and performance can ensure that the jacket will stand up to its intended purpose.

User questions & answers
Question: | I’m 5’4 what size |
Answer: | I’m 5’9” and small fits me perfectly like custom; I usually wear medium in all other sweaters/jackets except columbia as their medium falls 2-3 inches below waist which is not a good look |
Question: | I am 5,6 and weight 176 what size should I get |
Answer: | Well, I'm 6 feet tall and weight 170-175 pounds and the medium is just the right size for me. It does not hang loose, and it is not too snug. So, I am wondering if you should get a large size based on your body measurements which suggest that you are a more muscular man. However, next to window that allows you to pick the size, there is a size chart window that you can open up to double check your thoughts. |
Question: | Are these real columbia zip ups? They are the same price at khols. Also do they all come with that optitech logo |
Answer: | This is my second time purchasing what I thought would be the same exact item. My zipper tab broke off, so I ordered a new one. The fleece material is thinner, not as full and comfy as it is noticeable when walking outside in cold wind. And that logo is a rectangular type patch instead of being etched. |
Question: | What is the lining like? I ordered another Columbia jacket from elsewhere & the lining was silver foil looking & my son refuses to wear it |
Answer: | This particular one has nonlining like the one your son has; the ones with lining are Columbia jackets that are warmer for colder temps. This one although has no lung is very warm in temps 40-50 degrees. |

User questions & answers
Question: | are you shipping to PO BOX |
Answer: | I think this depends on your preference for fit. I prefer a bit of looseness in my outer clothing. I normally wear a Large for shirts and sweaters, but with these I returned them for XL so I can wear them over other layers. I'm 5'9" and 177. If I were you I'd be doing the XXL. |
Question: | Does this jacket have the fleece on the inside or no |
Answer: | I wondered the same thing. Mine also has openings on the side of the interior pockets. I have used it to hold a phone charger and put the cable through the hole to attach to phone in holder. Other than that I could see no use for the holes |
Question: | Can I play golf with ascender jacket ? You play with this jacket |
Answer: | It’s very soft and comfy. In really cold weather such as the single digit temperatures we are currently enduring, I use it as an added inner layer under a light weight winter jacket. |
Question: | Does this keep out wind |
Answer: | Don't put fleece in dryer to prevent it from balling and piling. The hot dryer and also hot water ruins fleece. Hang dry fleece and then if it still needs to be softened put it in dryer for 5 minutes max. Use only half a dryer sheet because they leave a coating so using only half the sheet will make it less likely to coat fleece with the dryer sheet residue. |
