Answer:	When it is fully opened the umbrella is approximately 30" wide. An average sized man and woman can stand under it in a "cozy" fashion, in other words, if he puts his arm around her shoulder. As far as umbrellas go, this one feels much sturdier than others. If it's taken care of, it should last a long time. Allow it to dry before you close it up. There is no such thing as having bad luck from opening an umbrella indoors. If it's very cold- from being in the car- or, if it has been closed for a long time, the vinyl will stick to itself, so peel it open with care. You can go on the Totes website to find out more.
