This bag is under the approved airline linear max. I have had no issue with any airlines. Don't forget weight max is usually 50lbs, but some airlines allow up to 70. If you go over weight they will charge extra.

Answer:	Mine did not - I'm always picky about that. It smelled fine. It's quite functional as an extra bag. If you're going to carry a lot of heavy items in it, you might want to add a pad to the strap, otherwise fine. Slightly better quality than I expected, just wouldn't want to carry heavy things too far with that strap.
