Answer:	I would say yes. It is not "waterproof." In my opinion, the canvas weave is tight enough to provide a fair amount of water resistance. It would also be easy to use a waterproof fabric spray to increase the water resistance of the material. I used this as a carry on for a trip to eastern Europe and really loved how much it would hold and the square design allowed greater capacity than a normal backpack.
