Product description

This engineer style from Frye is designed with just the right amount of slouchy volume for a relaxed, yet polished look.

Frye boots are famous for their high-quality leather and all-American appeal, and Veronica is no exception. This boot may be short in stature, but it's long in charm thanks to polished buckles and weathered leather that's beautifully broken in for rugged style you won't have to work at. A rubber sole lends grip to all-around-towning, so you're as sure footed as you are cool in Veronica.

The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When homesteading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

User questions & answers

Question: Does anyone think I would be able to wear the soft black leather ones in the rain
Answer: these are the only ones I wear all the time, have two pair one outside the other inside. I have one foot that was crushed plus burning in both feet.
Question: In the cognac boot what color is the sole
Answer: The heel strap can be opened and closed, it is adjustable.
Question: How does the toe box of the Veronica compare to that of the Women's Engineer 8r ankle boot
Answer: I love these sandals, they are basically the only shoes I ever wear - super comfortable around town, daily 2 mile walk, etc. BUT... The soles and the uppers last forever, but the insoles don't retain their cushioning that well - 4 months and 200 miles and I'm ready for another pair. They don't do well in sand, and do really badly in water. I have been very careful not to get my current pair wet, but I got my first pair soaked once, and after they dried, the insoles had lost a lot of their rebound. After the insoles have gone flat after a couple hundred miles or after getting wet, these shoes should have a whole second life washing cars, at the beach, or whatever.
Question: I just got these and am really questioning the quality. Anyone else suspect their boots weren't true Frye's? They looked terribly made
Answer: Yes, the exact same kind. Same material, same construction, and made in China, just like the ones Jesus wore.

User questions & answers

Question: Hello, does anyone know the calf size on a pair of 11's
Answer: I bought black billies and they were not distressed at all.
Question: Can someone tell me the difference between the anthracite and grey? Grey looks more brown and bronze to me
Answer: The leather is all the same color a dark tan (on mine) and the O ring is a dark tarnished silver and it is very sturdy. I have had these boots for about a year and they are my go to boots. As they have a slip resistant sole.
Question: Do these run big or small
Answer: I would get a 6. I wear a7, but I bought my Frey boots a 1/2size smaller and they fit perfect. 
Question: Is the photo accurate for these boots? It says grey, but it is not the same as the grey on Frye's website
Answer: I have had these for more than a year and I wear them often. They do not "slouch" in my opinion. There is a little more "play" in the leather around the ankle as it is a flex point. If the concern is that the appearance becomes "sloppy", I have not found that to be the case. This is a very well made boot constructed with quality leather and has worn beautifully. I actually like these better as they age a little. They look super with a pair of faded jeans! I have another pair of Frye short boots that are made of a softer leather and they have not slouched either. I have worn those extensively for at least two years.

User questions & answers

Question: I purchased these boots in an 8 1/2, but need a 9. If I exchange them, is it an even exchange, or would I have to pay the higher price that they are n
Answer: Pretty much true to size, but a little on the bigger side. My heel slips and I could have probably sized down by .5, but that size was more expensive so I'm making them work with thicker socks and heel pads. They are great looking boots!!!
Question: Is the grey color suede at the foot
Answer: I have found them to be true to size and haven’t had the same experience with my boots. Thicker socks could help? I use a thin lift in one boot, yet both boots are comfortable and easy to wear for an entire day. I have three different leathers (caramel, brown, and black) and all three have fit in a similar manner for me. Hope the sock change helps you!
Question: What is the calf circumference measure
Answer: Yes vintage looking but not good for long walks for me.
Question: Do these run small or large? Does the pointy toe pinch or cause blisters please
Answer: Yes, I initially ordered the Black in my regular size and then had to return and order a half size up. The larger size fit great!
