Answer:	Mine are XL so I can't say. Mine have an inseam of 25 inches. In pants I usually take a 29 inch inseam, but these fit perfectly (I'm 5' 10"). I think PJs are cut fuller in the crotch and so have a shorter inseam.

Answer:	I bought "large". Am 5' 6", with inseam at 27-28", weight about 150. They fit just fine for me. I like loose fitting night wear. Perhaps you can judge from that info, but it sounds as tho' he might need xxl. Hope that helps! Remember they are 100% cotton & might tend to shrink a tad. They are well made.
