I started using silicone when I bought an underwater metal detector years ago. The manual was very specific that you shouldn't use Vaseline on the rubber seals! I had a small container of the stuff that was about the size of three silver dollars stacked up... I had gone thru about half of it and decided to get some more. After looking at prices, I figured it was worth the big cost savings just to buy a big thing of it instead of a small tube! As infrequent as i use it, it will still be sitting on my shelf, in great condition, for the next 10-20 years! :) |
