Answer:	Aren't they supposed to be connected directly to a TV or laptop via the HDMI port? This device doesn't support that kind of function. It's a charging device for USB-powered devices that plugs directly into a power outlet. I use it for my iPhone and iPad to charge them up at night, yet still have them within reach, as my iPhone is my alarm clock and sleep analyzer and my iPad is my streaming TV device. I use the pass-thru power plug for my laptop. It's nice and compact, and leaves the remaining outlet open for other uses. Hope this helps.
