However I just got a new ipad and the power supply from the old one doesn't provide enough current for the new ipad to recognize that it should be charging.

Answer:	While both are plugged in, press the button on the bottom of one of the units, then within a short period, press the button on the bottom of the other one. The installation guide says to hold the button down for 2-5 seconds each time, and that the button on the second one has to be pressed within 2 minutes of the first one being pressed, but mine only paired if I did the second one within a much shorter time than that: 15-30 seconds, or so.
