8 best the 70 s

The 1970s, often referred to simply as the '70s, was a transformative decade in many aspects, including music, culture, and technology. In the context of music and the genres you mentioned (Album Oriented Rock or AOR, Classic Rock, CDs, and Vinyl), here's what you should know about the '70s:

  1. Album Oriented Rock (AOR): The 1970s was a golden era for AOR, a radio format and style of rock music that emphasized the album as a whole rather than just individual hit singles. AOR stations played a mix of rock songs from popular albums, contributing to the success of iconic rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and The Eagles.

  2. Classic Rock: The '70s laid the foundation for what we now call "Classic Rock." This genre includes rock music from the late 1960s through the late '70s and is characterized by its enduring popularity. Classic rock artists like The Rolling Stones, Queen, and Aerosmith released some of their most iconic albums during this decade.

  3. Vinyl Records: Vinyl records were the primary format for music consumption in the '70s. LPs (long-playing records) and 45 RPM singles were popular choices for listening to music. The LP format allowed artists to create cohesive album experiences with cover art and liner notes.

  4. CDs (Compact Discs): Although the compact disc (CD) was introduced in the late '70s, it didn't become a mainstream music format until the 1980s. However, the development of digital audio technology in the '70s laid the groundwork for the CD's eventual rise as the dominant music format in the '80s and '90s.

  5. Progressive Rock: The '70s also saw the rise of progressive rock, with bands like Pink Floyd, Yes, and Genesis pushing the boundaries of rock music by incorporating complex compositions, extended instrumentals, and conceptual themes into their albums.

  6. Disco: While rock music was dominant, the '70s also witnessed the disco music phenomenon. Disco artists like Donna Summer and the Bee Gees had massive hits during this era, and disco culture became a significant part of the decade's pop culture.

  7. Cultural Impact: The '70s were a time of social and cultural change, and music reflected these shifts. Rock music often addressed themes of rebellion, freedom, and self-expression, while disco represented the dance and party culture of the era.

  8. Iconic Albums: Many iconic albums were released in the '70s, including Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon," Led Zeppelin's "IV," Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours," and Eagles' "Hotel California," among others.

In summary, the 1970s was a pivotal decade for music, with the rise of AOR and Classic Rock, the dominance of vinyl records, and the beginnings of digital audio technology. It was a time of musical experimentation and the creation of enduring classics that continue to influence music to this day.

Product description

Byron, Christie, Eileen and Dexter are friends on the campus of Kent State University at the time of the Kent State murders. As they graduate and go their separate ways, they face the issues and challenges of the 1970's including three presidencies, the Watergate scandal, the end of the Vietnam War, the rise of the women's movement and a surreal mass suicide. The 70's combines historic news footage with top-notch production and factual history with the story of four friends learning learning about life, love, and of course, disco.

In 170 minutes, this NBC-produced miniseries hoped to capture a decade--and in many ways, it did. The '70s traces the lives of four friends from their senior year at Kent State (marked by the killing of four student protestors by the National Guard) through the era of Watergate and Tang. At its worst, it's a so-so soap opera held together by fascinating bits of historical trivia, giving equal time to the issues of the era (the Equal Rights Amendment, the oil crisis) and inescapable bits of pop culture (Mary Tyler Moore and the hustle). The characters are pretty obviously engineered to plumb every angle of the decade's cultural topography: the young black National Guardmember who deserts to Los Angeles in time to join the Black Panthers and open a cinema featuring hits like Shaft and Cleopatra Jones, the sorority girl turned disco queen turned California cultist, the young intellectual woman who finds feminism and abandons marriage in favor of a career, and the conservative law student turned Watergate burglar turned pipeline worker turned environmentalist. The acting's not bad and the story hangs together, but the show is really at its best when the soundtrack takes over, allowing montages of memorable photos and archival film clips to reveal (and revel in) the real history behind the melodrama. --Grant Balfour

User questions & answers

Question: I'm 5'8 and have a 38" chest. Normally wear small, but should I go medium or large on this
Answer: I have washed mine and it did not shrink. Maybe if washed with hot water and dried on high heat it might shrink a little. Mine is high quality and it was prewashed when I received it.
Question: Can you shrink this
Answer: Only real khaki. Please make sure.
Question: Can I wear Khaki pants with these
Answer: Yes. The inside pockets are at the bottom on either side of the abdomen. They don't look finished, but they are there. They are not died as the dye would rub onto your clothing underneath.
Question: Hello, Does the jacket have inside pockets? Thank you
Answer: Size E covers 235-300lbs, 5'2"-6' tall. Please view our size charts at https://nononsense.com/size-charts/
