What to keep in mind is that if they can't lie flat on the surface, air can get under the decal eventually drying the adhesive which will cause the decals to fall off or not stick as well. Answer:	My husband and I applied this wall paper to the back of some built in shelves. We cleaned off the area with like warm water, dried, measured our space to line up edges and then applied wallpaper slowly with a plastic scraper to smooth out bubbles. Other than that no tools necessary.
