I did end up getting the mesh filter. It has been around for almost a year, and is still in great shape. |

| Answer: | The bottom is a bit larger than the top on the outside only. The inside is straight and the metal strainer works well. That said, this keeps coffee hot for a long time. It is well made.Please note that this pot is only about 3 1/2 "real" cups of coffee (think glass 12 oz mug if you are in the US for example). If you are looking to get 4 real cups of coffee (or close to 48 oz of coffee) you should look at a little larger pot. We use the 12 cup Bodum glass french press pot to brew and then this pot to keep the remaining cups for a while. |
