Answer:	3/4 inch. it fits my Midland 75-785 However, it is too long (48 inch) and heavy for the BNC to run or move around with. Mounted on a rucksack with a plastic pipe mount around the transformer and extension cable would work.

Answer:	This antenna didn't receive very well with either of my Uniden BCD536HP police or fire scanners. I did buy a similar antenna from R&L Electronics that have the same kind of magnet but with only one coil in the middle of the antenna. That antenna worked flawlessly. So I ordered two more from R&L Electronics
