This has a lovely, predominately lavender scent--actual lavender flowers, not a perfume, with notes of mint and citrus. It's subtle and calming, and not at all overwhelming. The scent is stronger after it's heated, almost unnoticeable when it's at room temp, but I haven't tried it cooled yet.

Answer:	No. I have a above the range microwave and I just coil it up and warm it for about 2 minutes. The first time you use it warm it at 2 minute increments.
