Answer:	Mine does the same. Seemed to work better when brand new, but now only heats up to 270F, then cools down after running my hair thru it. I’ve had it 3.5 years now, and it still works, but doesn’t heat up like it should. It also shorted out 3-4 times, and I had to reset it by unplugging and holding power down for 10 sec. there are reset directions on online. Iron turned back on and started working again, after I thought it had completely gone dead. Still only heats up to about 270F, then cools to 230F while straightening.
