Answer:	No you cannot!!! Despite being clearly labelled as working OK with "120-250V" outlets, this is not the case. While on vacation in Europe my wife plugged it in to an outlet and it began sparking and almost caught on fire. This is a clear fire and safety hazard and this product should be pulled from the shelves.

Most regular sized irons are 11 to 12 inches. This is called a mini iron. This is from the drop down menu below the regular iron. It is important to read all the descriptions to know what you are getting.
Question:	Does it work well on African American or mixed curly hair
Answer:	I've had this flat iron for 5 or 6 years, I've used it for maybe about 3 of those years where my hair was a mix of natural and permed, and YES it works very well on African American hair. There is a heat controlled setting on this flat iron. So, to the person that states it's too hot and breaks an AA's hair off, first of all, not all AA's hair is the same. My hair requires a greater amount of heat to straighten. Second, I don't think they are using the setting correctly because the heat setting can be controlled. It will fry anyone's hair (fabrics, clothing, etc.) on the highest setting, which I believe is 450 deg. I keep it right around 410 deg. I use this to achieve very straight styles (or right after a shampoo and blow dry) and my mini for daily use. I also use this with a thermal protector like Mizani thermal protector. I also use to use this with the Mizani's Gloss Veil when until they stopped making it. Make a long story short, it can get very hot, but don't use it on it's highest setting.
Question:	what is the difference between the 3rd generation and regular iron
Answer:	I believe the only difference is that the 3rd generation has slightly longer plates than the regular iron. Neither of these flat irons are of the current generation, which is why they're being sold so cheaply. I think they must be a few years old, because if you look at the current 1-inch flat iron on HSI's website, it's slightly different and costs quite a bit more. That said, I bought the regular iron here and I could not be happier with it. It's everything I wanted. I can curl or straighten my hair, it doesn't burn, the temperature can be adjusted so easily. My only warning is that it doesn't have an automatic turn-off, so you need to be someone who can always remember to turn it off or unplug it.

Answer:	There is an adjustable nob that shows the temperature around the circle, but I honestly don't think you need it. My prior hot iron did not show any temps but had a graphic to show which way to turn the nob to make it hotter. This is even easier.

Hair Straighten

1. Plug in iron and rotate the switch to the right temperature. The thicker your hair, the higher the numbered setting should be.

2. Separate your hair into several sections. The number of sections will depend on the thickness of your hair.

3. Place the straightener as close to the roots of the section as possible without burning yourself.

4. Clamp the iron down so that the heated sides touch and your hair rests between them.

5. Run the flat iron down the length of your section of hair.

6. Run the straightener over the section several times until it is completely straight.

7. Move the straightened piece out of the way and unclip a new section of hair.

Hair Curling

1. Plug in your iron and rotate the switch to the right temperature. The thicker your hair, the higher the numbered setting should be.

2. Split your hair into sections. Even if you have thin hair, you'll get better results if you work with small sections of hair.

3. Start curling. Grab the piece of hair you wish to curl and give it a quick brush through to remove any remaining tangles. Clamp the flat iron around the hair and give it a half turn so that your hair is in a U-shape. Hold the flat iron in this position as you move it down the hair shaft, right to the ends.

4. Loosen your curls (optional). If you want your hair to look softer and looser, run your fingers through the curls a few times. The curls will pull down and loosen up as you do so.

Answer:	Hi there, conflicted. I've been using this for several months now and absolutely love it! Far superior performance than the Con-Air I had previously. Evenly heats up and so many levels of heat to choose from. For my just above shoulder length hair I use the 370 setting and my hair is done perfectly in under 10 minutes. my hair is really fine but there's quite a bit of it. I don't do anything fancy like beach waves, just simple smooth out, curl under the ends & bangs. I don't use the clips or glove but I assume that someone with longer hair would find those handy.
