Answer:	It keep the state before the power interruption. If it was on, then stay on. If it was of, then it stay off. Just smart. By he way, this is the best smart switch out there. I use it with Homekit and whit Alexa too.

Answer:	It senses the amount of ambient light around itself. The knight vision mode tends to kick on in dim settings, though the closeness of objects seems to impact whether it turn on or not.

Answer:	The battery is completely built in. I do not see a way to open the parent unit without damaging it... my bet would be if the battery stops working check to see if the manufacturer will replace it or buy a new one :)
