All you have to do is eat plain meat, poultry, or fish and you’ll be in zero-carb territory. Indeed, if you don’t crave variety, there is no reason not to eat meat— especially fatty meat—and pretty darned close to nothing else.

Snacks and Sweets

There’s an issue with snacks on a keto diet: If you’re eating more than plain meat for meals, you don’t have a lot of wiggle room left in your carb allowance for more. Too, you shouldn’t need many snacks—you’ll feel full! One of the clearest signs you’re in ketosis is a dramatically reduced appetite. Make use of it to stretch out the time between meals. Think of these recipes more as light meals.

Drinkables

Surely you know that water is keto-friendly. So are coffee and tea, black or green, so long as you don’t lace them with sugar. (It is stunning the degree to which my parents’ cup of joe has become a huge serving of liquid candy.) Sparkling water is also great. Diet soda is better than the sugary stuff, but keep in mind that anything sweet, sugar-containing or not, natural or artificial, will trigger at least a small insulin release.

Condiments and Sauces

Why make sauces and condiments? Because ketchup has 4 grams of carb per tablespoon, and who ever stopped at 1 tablespoon? Because mayonnaise is a Festival of Bad Oils, even if it says “made with olive oil” (the word “with” is the tip-off), while homemade mayonnaise can be one of your best sources of highly ketogenic fats.

The parent unit frequently loses the signal from the baby unit and makes an annoying beeping sound. It's frustrating when that's what wakes you up in the middle of the night.

Answer:	Great IDEA for a feature, but as far as I'm aware, the "baby unit" is always in the communication loop. However, as I think about this, it might be possible to lower the volume on the baby unit to the point it can't be heard in the nursery so the parents COULD talk on the other 2 units. It's late tonight, but I'll check this theory out for you sometime tomorrow & re-edit this answer so we'll know for sure. ***stay tuned*** -----------Update 7/23/13: Checked for you this morning & unfortunately, the "baby" unit's LOWEST volume level is still audible. So, no, you can't communicate between the two "parent" units without the "baby" unit broadcasting the sound. Even though you can talk to one another, "baby" can always hear. Hope that helped you!

Make sure the Baby Unit is turned on. Move the Parent Unit closer to the Baby Unit, but not closer than 1 meter / 3 feet. If you are using the Parent Unit in cordless mode, the battery may be low and requires recharging. A full charge takes 12 hours. Question:	Is the distance range really close to 1,000 feet? I want to use this as a barn monitor for baby goats, and our barn is quite a ways from the house
Answer:	During lambing season, we left the "parent" portion plugged in at the barn and the baby monitor in the house. I often had to relink the devices when I went down to the barn, but then I could listen to be sure everything was fine in the house or use the walkie talkie feature to page my husband for help during late-night treks to check for lambs. I'm not great at judging distances, but our barn is probably 200'-300' away from the house and we were using it in the basement.
Question:	Is anyone using two (2) of these units successfully without problems
Answer:	Yes, we have two units and are using them because we wanted more than 2 parent monitors. You cannot link the two, but we wanted more parent units. Here is what we did. - Put both baby monitors in same room - One set of parent units will "hear" one of the baby monitors - Other set of parent units will "hear" the other baby monitor - Put the 4 parent units in the rooms we wanted them in. All 4 parent units will hear the same thing - Only drawback is that only 2 parent units can talk to each other; the other 2 parent units can talk to each other Works for what we need. Gives us 4 parent units, and we put 2 for daytime use and 2 for night time. The daytime parent units are in different rooms, which we will be in during the day. The 2 for night time are near the bed or TV room. It has been working for us.
Question:	Does the baby unit have a rechargeable battery too, or just the parent unit
Answer:	I would love for the baby unit to be battery operated but contrary to the first reply, it doesn’t have a battery mode to use without having to be plugged in, just the parent unit.
Question:	Why did you buy this product instead of a video baby monitor? Is it just price, or something else? Trying to decide for myself
Answer:	The video monitors do no filter the noise coming from the baby’s room. We have a more expensive video monitor and ended up buying this one to replace it because the sound quality on the video monitor was terrible and when it transmitted the noise machine from the nursery it was impossible to sleep through. This monitor only transmits sound above a custom level that you set, so you don’t listen to every little peep from your little one, just the distress calls.
