Question:	If setting it up like the picture shown with the fire place, is there another way to mount it besides it being permanent
Answer:	We use the "Baby" Gate for our two standard poodles. We have not mounted it to the walls; instead, we use it as a stand alone fence to temporarily block off certain areas. We have it set up now as a kind of playpen for our 5 month old puppy to keep her confined while housebreaking and to keep her from eating our other dog's food at meal times. It works perfectly. We've been using it now for almost two years. Of course, it isn't as secure as it would be if it were attached to the walls, but we wanted something more portable to be used in various places.
Question:	is it free standing on carpet? i want to use this as barrier gate like an arch, does this product serve its purpose?fall when pushed by kids
Answer:	It was not mounted for a couple days and I had to secure it with bins on either side. It currently is wall mounted and I would not trust it around children. When I push on it, it has quite a bit of give (12 inches). I can push it and pull it which is probably putting a lot of stress on the wall screws. The only reason I am keeping it is because I have a 20lb mostly blind dog and not an active toddler.
Question:	will it handle chilren shaking the fence
Answer:	My son jumps up and down trying to shake the fence when he has temper tantrums. It holds up just fine. That said, ours is cable-tied down to rubber mats (link below). I highly recommend this solution, as in addition to shaking, many kids try to move the walls of these things and can move the entire pen around the room. Answer:	yes 2 can be connected. i have them connected to make a large enclosure, but it does move quite a bit.

Answer:	Good morning Fredrick! We apologize for the delayed response. The Ready to Install Everywhere Gate is designed to be mounted and used with the gate at a 90 degree angle to the wall on both sides. We would not recommend using the gate at an angle.
Question:	What is the height from the top of the mounting hardware to the bottom hardware
Answer:	Good morning Megan! Each of the mounting bars is approximately 23.5" long. On the latch side, the mounting screws are approximately 14.25" apart. On the hinge bracket side, there are screws at 4 locations. There is one screw at the top, one screw at the bottom and the brackets in the center are approximately 13" apart.
Question:	Are the brackets on this gate too wide to drill both sides into studs
Answer:	The bracket holes are 2 5/8" center-to-center -- they are too wide for a single stud. The side that holds the gate also has two holes in the center, which you could locate into a stud and put the brackets into drywall on either side. The side which has the latch only does not have center holes.

Question:	Could this gate be used for outdoors
Answer:	To answer Anonymous re outdoor use: I bought this gate (and also a slightly different North States gate as well, in a brown metal finish) to use in place of a screen door in my rental in order to let my cat see outside and get some fresh air. I have them both installed in the same door space (one lower, one upper) . The white one has been up about 2 months and the brown one about 9 months---and after a few months, both started to get slight rust stains at the bottom ledge where the slats are welded in. However, I haven't seen the older brown gate's rust get that much worse from month 3 to now (month 9), so I'm hoping that it won't turn into structural damage.The space they're in is slightly protected but does get afternoon sun, damp winds, and rain (though not much rain in this drought year)---I live in the SF Bay Area, in the cooler coastal part of the bay so there's a fair amount of humidity but no snow, sleet, etc. If I could go back in time I'd probably spray them with some kind of sealer before putting them up, but as it is I'll probably leave them up until I move again, and then perhaps recoat with a weather-resistant spray paint when I take them down (not that they're that hard to take down, but...I'm not that motivated to do it now!).If you're considering them for outdoor use, I'd give it a try but be aware that they aren't made for it, and will probably have issues (mine are still cosmetic at this point) sooner or later, depending on your climate.
Question:	Is the latch complicated enough that my toddler won't figure it out
Answer:	The latch for North States super gate is absolutely complicated enough so your toddler won't figure it out! You have to pull down the latch lock/catch while lifting the gate up at the same time to swing it open. A toddler will not be able to do this, which after using the gate for a week, I trust the safety and easy use of the gate!
Question:	Can a cat squeeze through the spacing of the bars, or could this work as a cat barrier
Answer:	No this does not work as a cat barrier. I have a very similar gate that works fine for the cat I'm trying to contain. But I have to go much higher as she can easily jump standard height. Even after I put anti-cat sticky tape on top rung she would climb it as evidenced by bits of fur on the tape. But that one worked. As I was installing this one with Mrs Sapphire inspecting, she waited till I was working on the second level and then just stepped through. After I sighed and stopped Mrs Sapphire from chasing Mrs April I got back measured. The bars on this gate are on 3 inch centers, the bars on the prior gate were 2.75 inch centers. The 2.75inch centers seem sufficient to deter 1year old energetic Mrs Sapphire, The 3 inch centers don't even slow her down.
Question:	Is the metal in the gate magnetic? I want to put a magnet on the wall to keep it open when needed
Answer:	Top and bottom rail are magnetic. My gate does not stay perfectly flush against the wall. It will stay open however, in either direction.

Answer:	It has a 1 inch circumference that is rubber, you screw it in top, both sides & bottom, both sides. You can easily detach the gate & put it back easily. I love this gate. I have not seen or heard of a better one.

Answer:	No, but the gate looks the same either direction so you can install it which ever way you'd prefer the gate to swing.
Question:	could a thin italian greyhound get through this
Answer:	My 5 month old Italian greyhound got her head stuck between the bars. Had to pull them apart to get her head out.
Question:	Could a kitten squeze through the bars
Answer:	Yes. I foster a variety of cats and have consistently found that kittens under 1 year can squeeze through the bars. Occasionally, cats over 1 year can jump over the gate, but this gate is very tall and will deter most older cats from jumping over.

Answer:	It could be very crowded in the subway, if the leash is too long the child can get stumbled. We recommend you to use the 4.92ft/150cm anti-lost link. If you are going to an open place like parks, you can use the 8.2ft/250cm leash. That’s why we prepared 2 leashes of different length for you.
Question:	How wide is the pass through portion of this gate
Answer:	It all depends on the size of the kid’s wrist. The child wristband length is adjustable up to 11.8inch/30cm. If your kid has thinner wrists, you can tighten it a bit, otherwise just loosen it to fit your kid’s wrist.

Answer:	The opening is 17 inches. I have had plumbers, electricians and carpenters at my house and they had no problem getting in or out of the gates. They couldn't believe how great the gates work.
Question:	how wide is the openings between each bar
Answer:	I just measured, and the gate, with the long extension is 32.25" wide. That leaves plenty of room for the adjusters. OK, so everyone can do the math:The 3 sections are 26" (Gate), 4.25" and 6.25" (Extensions), and the adjusters need 1.125" each (2.25 total) as a minimum. The adjusters are about 5" long. (I ain't taking that dang thing apart to see exactly how long. LOL) Gate only - 27.25" to 36" (I would recommend 27.25 to about 33". The adjusters get kinda wobbly as they get longer.) Gate and Short Extension - 32.5" to 40" (37" recommended Max)Gate and Long Extension - 34.5" to 42" (39" Recommended Max)Gate and Both Extensions - 38.5" to 46" (44" Recommended Max)The recommended Maximums shown here are my own best guestimates and are not to be taken as a limit, and are, in no way, sanctioned by the manufacturer. Each side is altered with three pieces of wood secured by large screws which serves to clamp it down into place. I suppose you can use an actual wood clamp but that would look even more make-shifty. Pressure is created by screwing the wood pieces together so it’s not screwed into the wall at all. (Hopefully it won’t leave an indentation). I hope the video gives you an idea of what was done. The wood was placed at the upper-middle side of the door opening and the gate is secured by pushing the handle down securing it in place with a pressure mount, as you know. It works really well. In the video it look like I was struggling to remove it and put it back into place but I have arthritis in my hands pretty bad and that’s why I was struggling. It’s very simple to release the gate and put it back into place. I love this gate. We have another one downstairs in our kitchen that does not need adjusting. Anyway, I hope this helps you. Question:	Is the hardware sold separately and if so where can I get what I need
Answer:	Hello! The hardware should come packaged with the gate at the time of purchase. Parts such as the template, hinges, screws, and wall cups are typically replaceable parts. Question:	The opening I want to mount this in is 44in. Will this gate fit with the hardware or does it only extend to 42in
Answer:	With hardware you might be able to make it work but, I am not sure how well will it lock. I have placed wood board over drywall side of my opening to mount hardware to. If it is short you can add nice peace of trim to make if fit.
